Cover Reveal – Bait by M. Mabie

Coming this Summer…

He was trouble from the start, but I couldn’t resist.

She was the best kind of trouble. The kind that was so wrong, it felt right.

I’ve tried and failed to stay away from him.

I’ve done everything in my power to make her mine and keep her.

He’s almost impossible to say no to.

She never tells me yes.

We’re always fighting.

When we’re not fighting, we’re… well… making up.

He makes me laugh so hard.

I miss her laugh the most.

I’m a liar.

She knows the truth, but won’t admit it.

Sometimes, I wish I’d never met him.

I wish we could meet all over again. I’d do better.

His sweet girlfriend knows.

The guy she’s with is a fool.

I’ll never love anyone like I love him.

She doesn’t love me enough to choose us.

It was the wrong place.

It was the wrong time.

It should have been him.

It will always be her.

Avoiding Amy Jackson

Avoiding Amy Jackson (The Infamous Series #2)
Meet Amy Jackson. An outspoken, raunchy, in-your-face, loudly inappropriate ER Nurse who makes a career out of indulging.

One-night stands have always been her thing.

Commitment and relationships are two words that are not in her vocabulary.

Amy doesn’t have dreams of soul mates and white picket fences. She adamantly refuses to even consider the idea of getting married and starting a family. She’s also obstinate in allowing a certain physician to get on her good side…

James Williams. A cocky, smug, too-damn-good-looking orthopedic surgeon who has his sights set on the very feisty Amy Jackson. He is more than intrigued and ready to do whatever it takes…

“I want this woman. I’m the type of guy who will fight for what he wants until he gets it. I will take my time with Amy. I won’t rush her. I will continue to slowly slide myself into her life until she realizes that I belong there. And then…I won’t let her go.”

This is Book Two in The Infamous Series

“So is it true what I’ve heard about marines?” I ask nonchalantly.

He cocks his eyebrow inquisitively. “What exactly have you heard about marines?”

“Once a marine, always a marine. I hear you guys even yell out, ‘Oorah!’ during sex.” I try like hell to keep my face devoid of any emotion, especially amusement.

James’s fist slams down onto the table as he lets out a deep laugh. Our coffee cups vibrate from the motion and tiny droplets slide down the side of my cup onto the small, red table. “Uh. No,” he answers through his laughter.

“Never? C’mon. You mean to tell me you’ve never yelled that out during sex? Even when you come?” I wipe the spilled coffee off the table with a beige napkin that proudly displays the shop’s logo.

James’s tickled expression makes me grin.

“God, you’re outrageous, but to answer your question, no. Never. I’m saving it for when I meet the woman of my dreams.” His face beams with hilarity. James unleashes his most impressive megawatt smile and I instantly feel needy for his attention.

A self-deprecating laugh escapes my throat as I try to brush off the unnerving feeling that is occurring inside of me. “You’re good. Really good. I bet you have women throwing themselves at you all the time.” My face immediately flushes red when a particular embarrassing memory comes to mind.

“I don’t turn on the charm for just anyone, Amy,” he states with a determined stare, his eyes piercing into mine.

“That doesn’t seem like a response someone would give to their friend.” He may need sunglasses for the glare I’m giving him.

“Sometimes, with you, I just can’t help myself, but I promise I’ll try to be better.” He holds his hand to his chest, asking for forgiveness.

“I guess I’ll let that one slide, but if it happens again, I can’t make any promises what my reaction will be,” I warn before I finish the rest of my coffee.

My Review:

First off I have to say that the author is a dear friend of mine. However that had nothing to do with my love for this book.

Amy Jackson is raunchy, inappropriate, funny, lovable. Her lack of filter and verbal diarrhea of all things inappropriate had me cracking up from beginning to end.

And James…*sigh* I loved his patience with Amy. She could be a lot to handle but if anyone was made to handle her, it was him. He’s strong, sexy and just yummy.

The witty banter between to two provide a sexy foreplay for things to come and had me rooting for them the whole book.

And I love the authors writing. The story flowed wonderfully. Amy’s comments and remarks and just daily dialogue had me inwardly cringing and laughing at the same time.

I will say I think I enjoyed this book more than the first and I really can’t wait for more in this series.

5 stars!

I raise both of my hands up in the air. “All right, I’m out of here before you two start going at it in front of us.” I head for the door and stride into the hallway. I make it halfway to my room before strong arms pull my body back into a masculine, warm chest. The scent of James clings to my nostrils, and I can’t help the shaky breath that escapes my throat.

Peppermint and cedar and clean laundry.

“So that’s how it is? You’re just going to leave me with those two?” James whispers into my ear. Pieces of my dark locks blow away from my face.

“You got it, and I’m finding a hell of a lot of enjoyment out of it, too.” I close my eyes and fight the urge to turn into his embrace and kiss the daylights out of him.

James runs his fingers up and down my arms, creating a path of chill bumps. “It’s been two months. How long are you going to hold that night against me?”

I swallow against the dryness in my mouth, trying to gain some semblance of a hold on the sexual frustration that’s coursing through my veins. “Forever.

James laughs into my hair and rubs his nose back and forth against my neck. “You can keep making these weak threats, but I’m just going to tell you one thing. They aren’t scaring me into giving up. I’ll keep trying, doll. I’ll keep trying until you can’t resist me and my persistent charm”

Persistent charm? Pffft.

I step away from his embrace and turn to face him, his green eyes filled with heat, intensity, and an overpowering amount of raw, sexual pull. I take a much-needed breath. I need to force air into my lungs and gain at least an iota of defiance and pride. “I never make weak threats, Dr. Limp Dick.”

Dr. Limp Dick?” The jerk smiles at me—fucking smiles at me—and it feels like a slap across the face. The nickname has zero effect on him. It doesn’t put a dent in that ego-filled suit he seems to don with an impressive amount of confidence.

“Yes, Dr. Limp Dick. I think that name suits you well. Extremely well. Don’t you agree?”

“The fact that you even took the time to come up with that tells me one thing…” He pauses, obviously waiting for my stubborn pride to chime in.

“What exactly does it tell you?” I spat out, my irritation rising to new heights.

“That you’ve been thinking about me. A lot. Don’t worry, baby. I’ve been thinking about you too.” He leans in close, too close, and it feels like all of the oxygen has been sucked out of the room.

Anger courses through my bloodstream, my heart pounds loudly in my chest. Thump. Thump. Thump. My pulse sounds magnified inside of my ears. How can one man find a way to make me so infuriated? I hear a loud smack echo in the hallway and realize that my fury has now pushed me over the edge. I just smacked James clear across the face; a faint red handprint remains on his cheek. He lifts his hand and lightly rubs his jaw before grinning back at me.

“Beautiful and feisty. Now I’m really never going to give up,” he adds, completely unaffected.

“You’re such an asshole!” I shriek back at him before turning on my heels, stomping towards my bedroom, and slamming my door shut. I lean up against the wall and sigh loudly in frustration, my fists clenched tightly to my sides. What a prick! I mean, who in the hell does he think he is?! My breath is fast and hard, and my chest heaves up and down violently. I see my reflection in the mirror across from my door and can’t ignore the prominent outline of my nipples visible through my shirt.

God dammit!

Royally Trained by Diana Ames

 photo addtogoodreads_zps0432ea1f.jpg

In a country stuck in the dark ages is a world filled with sex and scandal. Governed by royalty, those in power have many deep-rooted secrets that span generations.

Prince Anton’s sordid past has forged his future. He finds his only pleasure from being a sadist, but he knows he must continue the royal bloodline and create an heir for his country. Forced by responsibility, he turns to the one man who can give him the best of both worlds. But will Prince Anton find what he’s searching for?

Damian is the ruler of The Dungeon. He is the Teacher, and the only man Prince Anton can trust to provide him with what he needs. He is on a mission to find a virgin submissive to become the prince’s life partner. What happens when the Teacher falls for the woman he’s been ordered to train?

As lust and love spiral out of control, Prince Anton and Damian find their lives change unexpectedly because of one independent and defiant woman.

Crown Prince Anton of Colania, a remote island country roughly 1,000 miles southwest of New Zealand, strode confidently through his royal city. He was the country’s only ruler, the last surviving acknowledged prince of the monarchy that had been in power for hundreds of years.

As he entered The Dungeon, his eyes flickered over the patrons. Colania didn’t have a traditional class system based on wealth or power. With few exceptions, everyone was on nearly equal footing. It was part of the reason there was little effort or push to bring the country into the technological era. Here in The Dungeon, though, was a well-defined hierarchy.

Employees who’d been with the owner the longest took responsibility for those who played in The Dungeon.  Safety and pleasure were their domain, and they were easy to pick out due to their well-fitted, fine clothing. Each piece was designed to be practical yet seductive, and only Dungeon employees had such quality.

The owner was the wealthiest man, next to Prince Anton, on the island.  The owner was sought after by men and women alike for his training skills and sexual prowess.  He was also the only man on the island who could afford to have brand-new vehicles shipped in for himself as well as have updated electricity and amenities throughout his business and home.

Prince Anton had only been in the man’s apartment on the third floor of The Dungeon once, but he had been impressed with its luxury.  Prince Anton was positive that parts of the castle had yet to be brought up to the standards that were imposed on this property.  Many corridors and hallways in the castle had no electric lighting or heat whereas The Dungeon had lighting that could be dimmed for mood and atmosphere.  Similarly, certain rooms that weren’t frequently used were still heated with wood fireplaces instead of a thermostat.  The only thing that had been refurbished throughout the castle was the plumbing, and that was for sanitary purposes.  Prince Anton could not tolerate things to be unclean.

Prince Anton didn’t hesitate or linger as he made his way through the club. He went straight to the black door on the back wall. He’d been here many times, and there was little to interest him. Everyone here was too used for his particular tastes.

He entered the black door and moved swiftly up the hidden staircase. This area of the club was off-limits to most. It was only available to patrons who paid exorbitant fees for private sex. Typically, only those who were ashamed of their vices used the rooms.

Prince Anton was neither ashamed nor paying for privacy today though. He had an appointment with the owner of The Dungeon, Damian Bellaro.

Author Interview – AJ Linn {The Gentleman’s Series}

Fans of Author AJ Linn and The Gentleman’s Series had the opportunity to submit questions for his Author Interview.

Check out what he had to say!

Do you have a hot bod?
-Christ…you ladies are worse than most men.

Are you married?

How can a man who seems so serious online create a character who has such an adorable sense of humor? Yes, I said adorable.
-It is called an imagination…

If you had the opportunity to own a club like THE UNDERGROUND, would you?
-Absolutely yes.

In the book, you have Donovan searching for the ʺoneʺ. How difficult will it be/has it been to create a ʺnormalʺ relationship intertwining with a ʺnot-so-normalʺ lifestyle…The Underground and fetishes?
-Relationships are difficult and have many different dynamics…the club is a part of Donovan, so to be with him is to accept that part of his world.

Had you known before you started writing the book how many obstacles you would face would you still have pursued it, or would you have given up?
-I don’t feel that there have been many obstacles, and besides, I am not a quitter. When I decide to do something, I do it.

People see a book, words on a page and don’t realize how long it took the author to actually write it. They don’t realize the sacrifices that are made, time set aside to finish the book rather than doing things with friends or loved ones, or just having a life. What are some of the sacrifices you’ve made to make the book(s) a reality?
-None. I managed my time and if anything was sacrificed…it was sleep.

After Donovan’s story has finished do you have any plans to write more books?
-Not at the moment.

What type of research did you do for your book prior to and/or during writing?
-Honestly…I made a profile on a Swingers website, that was an eye opener. Some of the happiest people around. I watched a program called, “Sex 101, Swingers.” Also the obvious research…Google.

Do you have any fetishes or what is your ʺthingʺ?
-Wouldn’t you like to know…

What and/or who do you draw inspiration from for your book?
-So many things…My own life…family and friends…movies…conversations.

What size shoe do you wear?

Boxers, briefs, or commando?
-Boxer briefs

How much of ʺyouʺ is in your character, Donovan Hart?
-More than I would like to admit…minus the bank account.

What’s your favorite movie?
-Almost Famous

Are you boob man or an ass man?
-Yes please

What’s your favorite book that you have read or listened to on audio? (Yes, we know you don’t like to actually read)
-Ash Wednesday by Ethan Hawk

Have you always had this story inside you to be written? Or did you see/hear/experience something that suddenly gave you the idea for the story?
-I literally woke up with the idea one morning.

Do you have a tattoo? Do you think ink is sexy? If you have one, what is it? and where is it?
-Yes, a few, and I do find them extremely sexy on women.

Did anything happen after you published your book, that you weren’t expecting? If so, what and how has it affected you? Good or bad?
-Not really, no.

What’s something you learned after publishing your first book that will help you or did help you when you published your second & third?
-You will have to ask my assistant about that.

You’ve said you wrote the book for us, your followers…what makes a person decide to do that, when a simple thank you would suffice? We love you for doing that, by the way.
-The blog fans asked, and I thought that it would be interesting…Simple.

Have you ever had a crush on a follower?
-Hmm…loaded question.

Roses or sunflowers?
-Sunflower seeds.

Do you plan on introducing yourself to the world, or are you going to remain anonymous forever? Some authors have short bios and a pic. Is that something you may do someday?
-Hmm…I haven’t given that much thought. At this time I do not want to put a face behind the character accounts.

What inspired you to write this book and will we ever get an in-depth look at the story behind Donovan and Danielle?
-Yes in the prequel.

What do you consider the most attractive quality in a woman?

What do you consider the LEAST attractive quality in a woman? What is an immediate turn-off to you?
-Weakness…as in, jealousy, whiners, and the victim mentality.

Do you really have a kink? Or is it all just ʺ fiction ʺ ? Where does The Underground come from?
-Yes I really do…and The Underground comes from my imagination, unfortunately.

What is one characteristic that you gave Donovan, that belongs to you as well?

What is the strangest fetish or thing you found while doing your ʺresearchʺ for the book?
-I came across some weird fucking shit…but I would have to say, Emetophilia.

How many 1 handed push ups can you do?
-Around 75

What was the worst date you have ever been on?
-See, “Louisa.”

Are you also in search of ʺthe oneʺ?

What kind of music do you listen to ? Who is your favorite musician/singer/artist?
-Coldplay, Korn, and System of a Down.

If you were to frequent the Underground what is it that would be your fetish?
-The same as Donovan’s.

Have you always been so kind and considerate and such a gentleman?
-I would like to believe so.

Did you ever think you would write a book?
-Absolutely not.

I don’t have any questions really. You are an awesome writer, blogger and friend for sure. I know your second book will be fucktabulous. New word of course. Much love Michele @DonovansMichele.
-Thank you, Michele.

It’s obvious that Donovan loves Malibu. Are you from Malibu?
-No, I am not.

What 4 words would you use to describe yourself?
-Grouchy, optimistic, hungry, and annoyed.

What is your favourite word? Least favourite word?
-Favorite: Fuck
-Least favorite: Cunt

For the past year or more, you have thrown yourself into writing not one, but two books. Once A Gentleman’s Secret is finally finished and you can once again have a life, what is the one thing that you can’t wait to do again?..other than catch up on your sleep.
-Almost a month after the release of book two…all that I have done is work and sleep, and I have enjoyed every minute of it.

What is your favorite part of a woman’s body?

Truth or Dare: is anything in AGA or AGS autobiographical?

This question is for @FuckedUpFifty: Obviously you’ve read the Fifty Shades Trilogy…why did you decide to read it, and then what prompted you to start your blog?
-A friend asked me to read it and asked if I would be Christian Grey to her Anastasia Steele. She had to leave after two months, so I decided to start the blog.

Obviously Breast Cancer Awareness is a cause that is very important to you. What inspired that passion in you?
-Quite a few people close to me have battled the disease.

Do you have plans for additional novels…perhaps spin-offs of AGA?
-I never say never, but not at this time.

Is there anything special you’d like to say to your fans?
-Basically, thank you for your support, for humoring me, and most of all for sticking around.
And for fucks sake…leave a goddamn review where you purchased the book. Your feedback is important to me…

Review – A Gentleman’s Secret by AJ Linn

A Gentleman's Secret- Front RGBSynopsis:

Donovan Hart has finally found his unico vero amore’ in the beautiful Scarlett Montgomery, but the question remains…will he be able keep her?

Will his secret be too much for her to handle, or…will hers be too much for him to handle?

A Gentleman’s Secret is an unpredictable ride full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Two people desperate to escape the sins of their past, hoping to find the one thing that has been missing…Love.

But, is love really enough to conquer all?

My Review:

Before you read any further, if you haven’t read Book 1 in the Series, A Gentleman’s Affair, then there are definitely going to be some spoilers.  So go grab A Gentleman’s Affair, read it, and then come back to this review. 🙂

In the sequel to A Gentleman’s Affair, we pick right back up where AGA left off.  And although, this story is about Donovan and Scarlett, the author introduces us to so many more characters along the way.

The prologue starts off in Scarlett’s POV, because remember, Donovan’s in the coma and not doing much talking, and actually several scenes are in her POV.  I really enjoyed it when it did occur throughout the book, because as you are reading, you realize that Donovan is not the only one with secrets and Scarlett has a few of her own.

We are finally properly acquainted with The Underground as well.  There’s a whole freaking chapter dedicated to it.  And in something quite sweet and unique, the author had actually let readers submit characters to be included in that chapter.  We are given a hilarious, sexy, entertaining “ride” through The Underground and it will probably leave you thinking: Did that really just happen?

Donovan and Scarlett’s story isn’t the only one we are privy to in A Gentleman’s Secret.  Donovan’s dad, Bruce, also plays a large part in the book along with his love interest Shari.  The author did a wonderful job of building these two characters up and making you fall in love with them as well, not just Donovan and Scarlett.

As you are reading A Gentleman’s Secret, it’s clear that Scarlett is hiding something, and her deception is a painful revelation for Donovan.  The results leave you, as a reader, ready to throw your book across the room. My emotions were definitely all over the place as I was reading.  My heart was aching for Donovan, I was pissed at Scarlett, but then at the same time I was sympathetic towards her, and then I was pissed at myself for feeling any sympathy for her.  It’s really amazing how many emotions this book brought out in me as I was reading and that’s definitely a credit to the authors writing.

There is a point in the story where we get a glimpse of the “old” Donovan, notorious Malibu playboy, and I must say it’s quite hilarious.  I was actually laughing out loud at what was going on and the dialogue in that particular scene was probably one of the funniest parts of the book to me.  But also, possibly one of the saddest.  Again, the author was pulling so many different emotions out of me at once.

I won’t tell you how it ends, but there is definitely a crazy curve ball thrown in there.  You really don’t know if there will be a happy ending or not….but hell, there is no cliff hanger and it does include an HEA.  And you do get an Epilogue.  A very funny, sexy one that left me wanting way more Donovan Hart.

Overall, it really was a perfect sequel to me, full of humor, heartache, drama, danger, and a little suspense…TRUST ME.  You NEED to read this book.

I don’t think I will ever get enough of the confident, sexy, smart-assy, Donovan Hart.  And the fact there is a book three in the works makes me a very happy girl.

Falling in love can be a royal pain.

A cocktail of sex, booze, and breakneck speeds is what sends Prince Henry of Benignus into rehab. He’s expecting to skip out on lectures and smoke behind the shed. He’s not expecting Carleigh.

Carleigh Philips knows Henry is trouble. His bad-boy attitude reeks of self-importance and over-indulgence. She’s not expecting him to lift a royal finger during his time at the ranch. She’s not expecting him to be a threat to her heart.

When Carleigh’s life is on the line, will Prince Henry step up to the plate? Or will he prove he really is nothing but a phony royal pain?

“All rise. The Honorable Judge Freeland presiding.”

The bailiff’s voice caused Henry’s brain to ricochet against his skull. He was slow to gain his feet as an elderly man in a billowing, black robe walked briskly from a doorway set to the side of the room. Henry watched his bald head reflect the light as he took his seat at the bench.

The sooner this little show was over, the sooner he could find his car and get back to Chicago. His brother was expecting him. While he wasn’t looking forward to the idea of dealing with official state business, Henry found he actually missed Alexei. Must have been the hangover.

He hadn’t been home in six months. Not since they’d issued him the ultimatum. It was either change his ways on his own, or his family had resolved they would do it for him. He knew how they wished to solve what they perceived as his problem, so Henry packed up and headed to America. Here, his only official business involved deciding which party to attend and who he was taking back to the hotel with him afterward.

“What have you to say for yourself?” The old judge’s gravelly voice made Henry realize he should have been paying attention.

“I said, after your actions last night, what do you have to say for yourself?”

“I can honestly say, sir, that I sorely regret having to take the jobs of all the night staff at the Hilton for allowing me to leave the hotel in such a condition. So if you will let me be on my way, it would seem I have some business to attend to. And I assure you, after today, you will never have to see my face again. Now, if I could be on my way?”

“Hold it right there, son.” Steel had worked its way into Judge Freeland’s voice. “I know who you are, and I believe you expect it will allow you to walk away from this without feeling any repercussions. I’m here to tell you, young man, that in that assumption, you are very wrong.”

Henry felt himself shift under the weight of the old judge’s glare.

“You will find that we treat all offenders equally here in Sweetwater. You have quite a list of offenses: DUI, assaulting an officer, public nudity.”

Public what?

“Now, see here!” Henry was outraged. Who did this backwater, sorry excuse for a judge think he was? Henry was royalty, nobility. Granted, he was currently on the outs with the family, but that didn’t change anything. He was entitled to a standard of treatment, and this old man was about to get a lesson in etiquette.

“Before you can launch into how I have offended your noble lineage, Your Highness, you should know that the District Attorney has been in contact with your embassy in Chicago. The royal family has been made abreast of our office’s suggested sentencing and has fully backed it.”

What? Those nosey diplomats never bothered to stick their noses in his business before. Why start now?

“While I cannot pass a ruling on someone with diplomatic immunity such as you, I do have this message.” Pulling a crisp sheet of paper from the manila folder he had carried into the room, the old man cleared his throat before continuing. “It is the decision of the Kingdom of Benignus that Prince Henry Xavier Bartholomew Reginald Fitzgerald be sentenced to thirty days in supervised detox at Mount Mercy Rehabilitation, followed by six months at Sweetwater Creek Ranch and completion of their sober living program. If he does not comply with our stipulations, steps will be taken to strip him of his immunity, and we will not interfere with any who wish to prosecute him for his transgressions.”

“I believe, despite that splitting headache I’m sure you are suffering, you heard me clearly. Thirty days at Mount Mercy, six months at Sweetwater Creek, and completion of the program or jail. Your choice.”

Character Interview – Donovan Hart from A Gentleman’s Affair & A Gentleman’s Secret by AJ Linn

Alright ladies!  You asked and he answered!

I had the opportunity to stop by The Underground at La Fuga Hotel and sit down with the handsome Donovan Hart.  Followers of Donovan Hart on twitter submitted the questions anonymously and he answered…most of them….Enjoy!!

Alright.  This is it.  I am finally heading into The Underground to interview the Notorious Malibu Playboy, Donovan Hart.  Not going to lie. I’m freaking out a bit.

Deep breaths Mal.  Deep breaths.

And these questions…..holy crap!  Some of these questions are just crazy!  Here goes nothing…

Walking up to The Underground entrance, I’m greeted by a rather large, handsome man.  This must be Reggie.  That’s quickly confirmed when he shouts “Booyah! You must be Mal, here to interview the boss man?”  I confirm with a nod as he gives me a once-over followed by a wicked grin.  I can’t help but let a laugh escape.

He tells me to follow him and leads me down the stairs to a ‘members only’ entrance, through a large door and into the club. The lights are low, deep burgundy and reds make the place look high-end and classy. There’s not many here yet, just a few people seated at the bar.   It looks as though they are just enjoying themselves, making small talk.  I don’t know what I expected to see… swings, whips and chains?  But it looks just like your normal high-class bar or lounge.

Reggie walks me up to meet Jared, the bartender.  After introductions, I order a drink.  One of Jared’s specialties, I’m told.  I think I’m definitely going to need it.

We move over to a booth in the corner, Reggie tells me to have a seat, that Mr. Hart will be with me shortly, to “Holla” if I need anything, and then he’s gone.

I do as instructed, place the questions on the table, thrum my fingers on the folder and practically down my drink, trying to kill nerves.  Hey, it’s not everyday you get to interview Malibu’s most eligible bachelor.

I’m lost in thought when I hear someone clearing their throat behind me.  Spinning around in my seat, I see it is none other than the man himself:  Owner and Operator of La Fuga and The Underground, the infamous Donovan Hart.  He knows he caught me off-guard and judging by the slight smirk on his face, I think he enjoys it.

Seriously ladies.  The pictures and descriptions don’t do him justice.  This man is fucking hot.  All tanned and toned. Incredible eyes… and that smile.  I’m speechless for a second.  Get yourself together Mal.

Not one to often be intimidated by an incredibly sexy man, I quickly compose myself and jump right in with the questions…..

Mal:  What’s up stud muffin?

Donovan: Is that a serious question?

Mal:  Yes….Thank you so much for taking the time for this interview.  I must say, this place is really quite impressive. *looking around* I would love to see what it looks like on your busy nights when everything is in full swing… pun intended.

Donovan: My pleasure, beautiful….and if you would like to test out that swing, {points to the swing in the corner of the room} I would be happy to join you.

Mal: Hmmmm…I might take you up on that. *grins*  Now, if you don’t mind, I’ve got a long list of questions here and several Donovan’s Dolls that will kill me if I don’t get to each and every one of them.

Donovan: Fire away.

Mal: Well, first things first…I have to ask.  Does your dad know EXACTLY what kind of club The Underground is?

Donovan: Absolutely not. He hasn’t stepped foot inside the hotel since my mother passed away, so…this will remain our little secret…

Mal: Oh okay…I see, and I completely get keeping it a…secret.

My next question has to do with you and Rebekah. When you decided to take a nightly swim in the ocean…What the hell were you thinking?  Haven’t you ever watched the movie JAWS? You could have been eaten! Ok, so that was actually two questions. Feel free to answer both.

Donovan: I have and that is highly unlikely. I only had one thing on my mind that night…but being the gentleman that I am, I will stop there.

Mal:  Yeah, I guess you DID have OTHER things on your mind besides deadly sea creatures. *laughs*  Just be careful, you know, for next time. We don’t want anything to happen to that hot ass of yours.

So, you make it sound like you were, at one time, the Duke of Debauchery, the Fresh Prince of Fetishes, the King of Kink…How many women have you been with? *taking a sip of my drink*

Donovan: Were? {smirks}

Mal: *laughs*  I see…Alright, moving on then.  I guess this one kind of relates to the last one.  What is your definition of Monogamy?  Is it being with one person only, or are there exceptions to the rule as long as it is agreed on mutually? i.e., a threesome or foursome?

Donovan: When I am in a relationship, I never stray. This depends on the nature of said relationship, of course. Some relationships started out in threesomes…and stayed threesomes.

Mal: Got it. And I say to each their own.  I do have to ask.  Do you want children in the future?

Donovan: I do. Are you surprised by that?

Mal: Huh.  I don’t know if I am.  A bunch of little hellions running around.  And think.  They’ll be just like you… *laughs*

Donovan: Poor bastards.

Mal: Okay, so I HATE to bring up the “Cheating Whore” so soon, but do you really think she’s gone for good?  Do you think Danielle will be coming back around?

Donovan: Not if I have anything to say about it.

Mal:  I mean, she doesn’t seem like the type to give up easily.  And trust me.  Women can be nuts.  Especially when it comes to a catch like you.

Donovan: And your point?

Mal: Just keep your eyes open, that’s all I’m saying. But enough about her.  For now.  What about a little rapid fire?  You up for it?

Donovan: Always.

Mal: What’s one word you would use to describe yourself?

Donovan: SexyMotherfuckingBastard

Mal: What size shoe do you wear?

Donovan: 11

Mal: Nice.  What’s the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done?

Donovan: {turns my gaze to the swing} With three “good friends”

Mal: *blushes* I guess some things are better left to the imagination…

What do you like to do in your spare time?  Any hobbies?

Donovan: Hobbies… {looks back to the swing}

Mal: *laughs*Alright I get it, that you got your money’s worth out of that swing…..What did it feel like getting hit by a car?

Donovan: It fucking sucked actually. {picks up my drink}

Mal: Hey don’t shoot the messenger. Smartass.

I take the last sip of my drink and a waitress immediately appears with a refill.  I’m definitely going to need to pace myself. I’ve got a long-ass list of questions here and I won’t be much use if I can’t even form a full sentence.

Donovan: Are you alright?

Mal: *blushes* Yes, just these drinks are really good.  Anyways, where was I?  Ok, do you have a tattoo, and if so, what and where is it?

Donovan: Yes…

Mal: And….What are the chances I can get a peek?

Donovan: {stands, unbuttoning my pants}

Mal: *chokes on my drink*Wow….um, ok, *trying to compose myself* next question… this one goes back to your little frolic on the beach.  How hard was it to get the sand out of your ass after almost ‘getting it on’ on the beach?  Obviously, this is a real Pulitzer prize question here…

Donovan: Is that a serious question? {shaking my head} It’s called a shower.

Mal: Yes…it’s a serious question…Christ! So any advice then, for those that are looking to sex it up in the sand?

Donovan: Bring a blanket…or give a lifeguard tower a shot.

Mal: Look at you.  So full of wisdom.  Ok.  Now to the serious stuff.  Do you prefer your women with a bush, smooth, vajazzled? *shaking my head* Seriously, who the hell came up with this one?

I glance at Donovan as he takes a sip of his Jack and Coke.  He’s grinning.  I guess that’s a good sign.  At least the questions are amusing him. And that grin is just deadly…

Donovan: What the fuck? Vajazzled? {shakes my head} And who says bush anymore? Do women still do that?

Mal: *laughs* Apparently they do…I apologize.  Some of these are a little out there.  I can’t imagine who came up with some of these.

Donovan: Dawn.

Mal: Hey now! No pointing fingers.

I feel really bad that this question follows the last, but I’m just going in the order they were received.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

Donovan: It has to be growing up on the houseboat. My mom had a way of making the small boat feel like a mansion…she… {pauses, looking away for a second} she was a wonderful mom.

I can see, as he talks about his mom, how much he loves her and misses her.  I swear his eyes get watery for a second, but almost as soon as I see it, the evidence is gone.  It’s clear that his mother meant the world to him.

Mal: Awe Donovan, that’s such a sweet story.  I bet your mother is really proud of all you’ve accomplished now.

So I really do have to apologize now.  It seems these questions are kind of all over the place.  What’s the first thing you notice in a woman?

Donovan: Her smile…seriously. Then…her tits.

Mal: *Arches my brow* Can you drop it like it’s hot?

Donovan: I often do.

Mal: This I definitely have to see sometime.  Next question, what is your favorite book?

Donovan: I don’t read much, but I hear that A Gentleman’s Affair is pretty good.

Mal:  Really? Never heard of it…I’ll have to check that one out. *winks*

Alright, so we all know that you are Italian.  And I must say, that raises your sexiness to a whole other level.  Any chance you can say something really sexy and really dirty to me in Italian?

Donovan: Sei molto bella. Volete unirvi a me nella torre di bagnino?

Mal: *fans self* Ok, that sounded really hot.  What does it mean?

Donovan: {smirks} You will have to Google that…

Mal: Oh, trust me I will!

I swallow what’s left of my drink.  It suddenly feels extremely hot in here.  No doubt I’m blushing like a fool.  But I must say, that was downright sexy.

Mal: Ok, enough of the sweet-talking, mister.  I’m going back to Rebekah for a second.  Do you think if you had put a little extra effort in, you could have made it work with Rebekah?  It seems like you gave up really quick once Scarlett came into the picture.

Donovan: Well, have you seen Scarlett? Don’t get me wrong, Rebekah was a great girl…but Scarlett stole my heart from the second that I first saw her.

Mal:  I guess I have to agree with you.  I mean the chemistry between you and Scarlett was evident from your first meeting.  I guess it was just a matter of time before you broke your rule.

So let me ask you this then.. after all of the disastrous dates, was there any point in time when you thought Scarlett might be too good to be true?  Some were suspicious of her.  You are quite the catch and have money.  She has no problem spending your money, shows up in another state where you are, admits she’d had a drinking problem and seems like she has a wilder side.  Did you ever wonder if you were being played by her? If not, why not?

Donovan: No. There is more to her than meets the eye…and she is far from a gold digger, and I will have to resent the question, and digress…and I rather enjoy her wilder side. {scowls}

Mal: Hey now, remember…don’t shoot the messenger Mr. Hart, and I actually think it’s great that you gave her the benefit of the doubt.  She seems sweet.  I’d love to interview her sometime.  Please let her know.

Donovan: Will do.

Mal: Ok, now for the serious stuff.

I give Donovan my very best serious face.  Although I’m two Jared Concoctions in and it’s hard not to bust out laughing at this next question….

What is your favorite toe?

Donovan: What the fuck?

Mal: I don’t know. But clearly someone out there feels that this was an important question to ask you Donovan. *grins*

Donovan: Someone with a foot fetish, no doubt.

Mal: *laughs*Probably.  So, I want to ask you a bit about your family.  We know about your dad and that your mother passed.  Do you have any other relatives other than your Dad?  Cousins you are close to?  Anyone?

Donovan: I have an Uncle, but we lost touch years ago.

Mal: I’m sorry to hear that.

As far as the ladies go, are you just about looks …weight, height, boobs, etc.?  Or does she have to have a good personality too?

Donovan: Again, is this a serious question? A woman isn’t her weight, her height or her “boobs.” A woman is made up of many mysterious things, and I look for a package of intelligence, passion and beauty, Mal.

Mal: Awe, that’s sweet, and hey, I figured this much.  But I had to ask. I mean, I kind of figured with Louisa that ditzy was a no-go for you and they had to have a little substance.

So, if it’s not just about looks, what do you consider the most attractive quality in a woman?

Donovan: Her ability to give good head. {smirks}No…seriously, again, it’s a package.

Mal:  You really can’t help yourself sometimes.  Well, I must say, it’s nice to see that it’s not just a nice rack and tight ass that turns you on, all though I’m sure those help.

And what would you consider your least favorite quality in a woman?  What’s an immediate turn off?

Donovan: Louisa.

Mal: Ha.

The waitress appears again, bringing myself and Donovan a new drink.  I’m silently thrilled as I need as much liquid courage as possible for some of these questions.  Donovan’s Dolls obviously had a fun time submitting them.

I throw this next question out quickly, hoping he answers…

Alright Donovan, as you would say, The Million Dollar Question, what’s your kink?

Donovan: Would you like for me to show you? {winks, finishing the last sip of my drink}

Mal: Uh….um….well…..

Taking a sip of my drink I glance around The Underground.  It appears a few more people have found their way in and the place is starting to pick up.  Low music is coming through the sound system and the atmosphere is fun yet sophisticated.  It’s obvious that “the debauchery” happens in a different part of the club.

Mal: Well, I’m wondering, is there anything you would consider too extreme for The Underground?  What are, like, the rules or limits?

Donovan: The obvious ones…do I need to list them? {quirks my brow}

Mal:  No, I mean I think we get the idea.

Pressure’s off with this next one.  What’s your favorite food?

Donovan: Italian, obviously. Anything that my mom made, especially her Lasagne.

Mal: *nods* I figured it would be something Italian.  Sounds yummy.  Let’s see… *flipping through the questions*  It looks like we are back to the sex stuff….Did you ever have more than one woman in your bed at one time?

Donovan: I have, but not since Scarlett.

Mal:  Um, okay.  Care to elaborate?

Donovan: No.

Mal: Alrighty then.  Do you think you will ever meet the women of your dreams and settle down, possibly have kids?  I mean I could take a wild guess and say you may have already met that woman…..

Donovan: I already answered that question.

Mal: Okay, okay, can you at least tell us, what attracted you to Rebekah?

Donovan: Her ass.

Mal: And what about Scarlett?

Donovan: Same. {laughs} I am feeling the effects of the alcohol, please excuse me. Scarlett is everything that I was looking for in a woman.

Mal: Awe, that’s so sweet.  You’re sweet.  Has anyone ever told you that?  Well I am.  You’re sweet, Donovan.

Donovan: No, please stop.

Mal:  Hey, it’s not my fault that Jared’s trying to get me drunk.  These drinks are delicious!

Okay, moving on…..what four words would you use to describe yourself?  I mean I think you used one already way at the beginning of this interview, but I want four others. Go.

Donovan: Loyal, generous, rich, and … {smirks}

Mal: And….? *arches my brow*I can only imagine…

Ok, so we know you are not just about the body, you like brains too, but when it does come to the female form, what’s your favorite thing?  Are you boob man, ass man, or leg man? Or some other physical characteristic?

Donovan: All of the above.

Just as Donovan finishes answering the question his phone buzzes.  He checks it and rolls his eyes.

Mal: Let me guess, a fire to put out?

Donovan: Always…

Mal: Well, the good news is we’re almost done!  The bad news, I may need to either check into a room, or cab it home.

Speaking of Patrice, we know you joke around with her all the time and she can annoy the shit out of you, but can you give us a little background to the history between you and her, and your family?

Donovan: Patrice came to work for me years ago, and began annoying me immediately. That said, she is a fantastic assistant.

Mal:  Your relationship is definitely a fun one to watch.

Ok, and, it appears we’re back to your sex life….how can a man who has always been sexually-driven and attracted to beautiful women settle down with just one girl?  Is monogamy a definite possibility for someone with a past like yours or is it merely a goal you hope you can achieve?  In AGA, you questioned your ability to be monogamous….are you certain that you will be?  If so, why?

Donovan: I am. {nods} I have had a lot of fun…but I have always wanted what my parents had.

Mal: Well, you are pretty much perfect in our eyes, *smirks* what’s one thing you would change about yourself if you could, and why?

Donovan: Hmm… {taps my chin} nothing comes to mind at the moment.

Mal: I personally don’t see anything I would change either *winks*

Several ladies out there are wondering, in what ways, if any, are you like your creator, AJ Linn?

Donovan: Who?

Mal: *laughs* Way to side-step that question.

Alright, Donovan, Donnie, D-man, I think it’s time to wrap this up.  If I’m here any longer, you’ll be carrying me out of here.  *Hey, I might actually be down for that*

Before we finish up though, I want to know.  Is there anything you can tell us about A Gentleman’s Secret?  What will we learn about you in the next book?

Donovan: You will just have to read it and find out for yourself. {winks}

Mal: So we will really get a peek at Donovan’s debauchery?  Exactly what your secret is?

Donovan: Possibly…and again…read the book.

Mal:  Fine, fine, I’ll read the damn book.

Well, I guess this wraps it up.  Thanks again for getting together with me and for doing this little sit-down.  I really hope everything works out for you.  Especially, that whole getting-hit-by-a-car thing.  But seriously.  I’m pulling for you and Scarlett!

*Always the gentleman, Donovan walks me out of the club and helps me into the taxi where I immediately Google what he said to me in Italian. Sigh*

Author Spotlight – Interview with K. Larsen & Giveaway

Check out my interview with Author K. Larsen

How and or why did you become a writer?

I was laid off and home alone alllll day long. The dog didn’t appreciate my rambling so I started writing.

Which character out of all your books do you relate most to?

Clara from Tug of War. She’s sassy, and I am too.

What are some of your favorite books and authors?

Oh my, I love so many, Um, Kristin Ashley, RL Griffin, Mia Asher, Amy Harmon, Chrissy Anderson!

Which book was the most difficult or took the longest for you to write?

Objective (being released in 2014) took the longest, it’s the second installment in the Bloodlines (Tug of War) series (no worries folks they are all standalones!) but the hardest to write was probably 30 Days/Committed. Lots of emotional turmoil there.

What’s your favorite color?

Green! Not forest green… actually any shade except forest green!

What’s on your ipod?

I use Spotify. Music is my muse. All the books have playlists. I love ZZ Ward, I love Icona Pop, Florence and the Machine, Stars … oh the list is endless really.

Cat or Dog person?

Both! But currently only have a dog. 😦 both kitty’s disappeared over the last 4 months.

Favorite Movie?

The Notebook or Old School… Ill never choose they are equals in my book. 😉

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Craziest thing you’ve done?

I stole a taxidermy Beaver from a bar with the aid of my neighbor. It was large. Like mounted on a giant hunk of wood. Probably 2.5 feet long and a foot wide in total. *no kids I don’t have a good reason and I don’t condone stealing and drinking is bad. Terrible. It helps you do dumb things- disclaimer*

But it was kinda the funniest thing EVER. The beaver (which we call the beavercoon) now gets hidden between our houses. Like, poor neighbor, opened her fridge and there it was staring back at her (I could hear her scream from my house * snort* )… I came home and it was in my bed. It’s ongoing.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Mascara.   **Shit- I should’a said my daughter huh?**

Do you ever come across a series of books that just completely rocks you emotionally?  This series was it for me.  I absolutely loved Fading so when I saw Falling was coming out I was a bit nervous.  It’s sometimes hard to do another POV book without being repetitive and Fading was so incredible.  But I have to stay, I feel like Ryan’s story is a completely different one from Candace’s and I was completely blown away by this book.

Falling starts a little before Fading did. We learn more about Ryan, how he got where he is, the evens of his past.  This is a different Ryan that what we first see in Fading.

You learn how broken he is, the situations with his father, his reasons for random hook ups, needing to have an escape, my heart went out to him.  When he finds Candace in the parking lot, his pain and need to protect her was so evident.  The fact that he see’s something like that and can keep functioning is beyond me but Ryan is strong, just like Candace is.

And BTW – I love his relationship with his mother.  He completely won me over with that.

When Candace comes into his life he feels again, he want’s to be close to her, around her but he knows that something is off with her and takes his time, earning her trust.  You get to find out how conflicted he is at times.  Wanting to say the right thing, do the right thing, be the right thing for Candace.  He struggles with that a lot.

The book is an emotional one, at times it’s not pretty, gut-wrenching, tear inducing, nail biting, yet somehow it’s an incredibly beautiful story as well.  EK Blair does such a wonderful job of making you feel what Ryan feels.  The struggles are sometimes difficult, the decision tough and emotional but Ryan has this need to protect Candace and to show her how much he loves her.

And, even though I sort of knew how they would end up, I found myself rooting for them all over again.

The ending is one of my favorites as well.  This was a perfect ending to an amazing series.

5 Stars!

Review & Giveaway – Gabriel’s Redemption by Sylvain Reynard

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers Gabriel’s Rapture and Gabriel’s Inferno comes the epic conclusion to the captivating romantic trilogy.

Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he’s confident that they can face any challenge. And he’s eager to become a father.

But Julianne’s graduate program threatens Gabriel’s plans, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honor of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, Gabriel is forced to confront Julianne about the subject of her presentation—research that conflicts with his own. And in Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel’s darkest secrets.

In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents, beginning a chain of events that has startling repercussions for himself, Julianne, and his hope of having a family.

About the Author:

I’m interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition – particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favorite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I’m also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.

After waiting for what seemed like forever, we finally have Gabriel’s Redemption.  I was afraid, because it took so long, that I would need to skim the previous books to refresh my memory, but that was not the case at all.  Once I started Gabriel’s Redemption, I immediately fell back into the world of Gabriel & Julia and what a beautiful world that is.

First and foremost, I just have to say the Reynard has an incredibly beautiful and captivating way with words.  He could be talking about grass for a whole chapter for all I care and I would be deeply enthralled.  This book was so well written, the narration, the details, the characters, everything.  So beautiful.

The book continues several months after the wedding of Gabriel and Julia.  They are so deeply in love and can’t keep their hands off each other.  Julia is continuing her education and Gabriel is the supportive loving husband.

I loved how Julia was finally coming into her own in the book.  I felt in the other books that she was too soft, sensitive and a little mousy, almost childlike at times, but in this one you see several glimpses of the strong woman she was becoming and can be.  And in this book, she gives Gabriel a run for his money.  They banter back and forth constantly and I found it quite funny.  Reynard did a wonderful job of incorporating funny and snarky dialogue between the two.

Gabriel still feels at times unworthy of Julia’s love and I was afraid at first the book was going to be a bit repetitive (of the last two), but it wasn’t.  Gabriel wants a family with Julia but his own insecurities and worries cause him to second guess the right way to go about getting that family.

Gabriel has always been my favorite BBF.  I love his tortured soul, his Alpha tendencies, his sarcastic humor, his directness, and his often mesmerizing words.  He has a very special place in my heart.

One other thing I loved about the book was that you got to catch up with all the other characters.  How stories enter twined.  You were given some back story which led and explained as to why things and situations were the way they were.

My only gripe was that I felt like the talk on the starting a family and those insecurities were a bit repetitive.  And I still disliked a little how Julia would feel inadequate at times.  She could be so strong and inspirational when talking to Gabriel, but then lost in her own thoughts she would loose that occasionally.

Overall, I think it was a perfect ending to the series.  The Gabriel’s Inferno Series will forever be one of my favorites.  As will the Professor.

Blog Tour Stop – The Infamous Ellen James by N. A. Alcorn

FB Ellen James Banner

Meet twenty-eight year old Ellen James. A sarcastic, feisty, foul-mouthed ER Nurse. She is snarky, sassy, and sometimes crudely inappropriate. After a terrible breakup with her fiancé, Ellen has promised herself that she will never make the mistake of falling for another man again… and physicians, well she’s more than written them off.

Once she meets sexy Trauma Surgeon, Dr. Trent Hamilton, this promise is unbelievably hard to keep. This too-hot-for-Ellen’s-own-good man is undeniably sexy and down-right irresistible. He leaves her breathless, speechless, and irritatingly turned on. He makes her fantasize about him in all kinds of dirty, inappropriate ways.

With the help of her obnoxious, and often times hilarious best friend Amy, Ellen will find herself in several crazy, embarrassing situations.

This is a story of friendship, love and how one very sarcastic woman can find the strength to pick up the pieces after having her heart broken.

In her first novel, N.A. Alcorn provides interesting takes on the word vagina, while giving you a reason to re-think your next visit to the Emergency Room. This book is bound to make you laugh, smile, and provide you with enough sarcasm to choke your grandmother. No, N.A. doesn’t want anything bad to happen to your Grandma Ruth, but she does want you to strongly consider re-naming your vibrator after a guy who’s at the top of your spank bank rotation. Be prepared for dripping juice-boxes, awkward pelvic thrusting, and a little suspense to keep your snatch on edge.

Warning: This novel contains explicit sex, profanity and far too much vaginal humor. This novel is not meant for anti-fornicators, up-tight prudes, or virgins who refuse to go to Pound Town.

Author Bio:

naalcornpicN.A. Alcorn is a wife, mother, labor and delivery nurse, writer, and blogger. She lives in Cincinnati with her husband and three-year-old son, Sid. In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing, running, and having inappropriate conversations with her blog besties. She also has a serious addiction to music and her all-time favorite band is Incubus. Her ability to eat an ungodly amount of Reese’s Cups in a fifteen minute time frame would quite literally blow your mind.

My Review:

This was N.A. Alcorn’s debut novel and I found it absolutely hilarious.

The book starts off with the sexy sounding Trent Hamilton, Trauma Surgeon, and his first glimpse at Ellen James, ER Nurse.  Immediately the laughs begin.  Ellen leaves quite the impression on Trent.  So much so that he finds a job offer so much more appealing knowing that he will be seeing her again.

I fell in love with Ellen immediately.  She’s just a bit snarky, silly, and raunchy.  A woman scorned, she heals her broken heart with witty jokes and hilarious nicknames for her ex and his new flame.  And when she’s not looking for love, the incredibly sexy Trent Hamilton rolls into town, and he was down right sexy.  Their first encounter was hot, and left both of them, and ME wanting me more!

As their relationship evolves, so does Ellen’s confusion as to what it is and how long it will last. She’s careful not to put a name on it, but Trent has other ideas and you can tell he’s definitely invested.  Trent was charming, take charge, and just all together sexiness. Swoon!

Throw in a hilarious friend and you the a great book that left me entertained, laughing out loud, and rooting for Ellen and Trent.

The book however, is not all just jokes and inappropriateness.  There are definitely some serious elements and events.  There were a few scenes that made me tear up, and even put me on the edge of my seat and the ending was absolutely perfect.

I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a fun, sexy, and maybe a little bit raunchy read.  I don’t think you will be disappointed.  I will definitely be reading more from this author.  Can’t wait for the next one in the series!

The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely for Oct 16 cover reveal

A new adult story of Love. Sex. Addiction. Blackmail. And Power…

Some say love can be an addiction. Others say it’s the thing that makes life worth living. Let me tell you everything I know about love…Love isn’t patient, love isn’t kind. Love is a game, a chase. A thrill. Love is wild and war-like, and every man and woman must fight for themselves. At least that’s how it was for me. A high-priced virgin call girl by the time I started college, I was addicted to love and to sex. Even though I’ve never had either. I controlled love, played it, and held the world in the palm of my hands. Then I fell down from those highs, and I’m being blackmailed for all my mistakes, forced to keep secrets from everyone, except the only guy I don’t regret.

With all the other women, I knew what they were. They were temporary. They were pills, they were bottles, they took away all the pain, and numbed the awful memories that wore down my ragged, wasted heart. Until I met Harley. She’s the only girl I ever missed when she walked away. But now she’s back in my life, every day, and there are no guarantees for us, especially since I don’t know how to tell her my secrets. What happened to my family. All I know is she’s the closest I’ve ever come to something real, and I want to feel every second of it.

How can you love with no regrets when regret is all you know?

When and why did you decide to start writing?

I don’t know that I ever “decided” to start. I always just did, even as a kiddo.

What led you to this genre?

I’ve always written Romance because love and the complexity of relationships fascinate me. In 2008, I submitted something to several agents that was a rough version of Keep Me Still. The response was a resounding: “No one wants to read about characters in this age group right now.” YA was big and NA didn’t really exist yet. So I was kind of just hanging around hoping one day people would want to read about college- age characters. So glad that day finally came!

Of all your books so far, which one has been your favorite to write?

They are all my favorites at the time I’m writing them. It’s impossible to choose! 😉

In your acknowledgements for Keep Me Still you mention this book is very special to you.  Can you elaborate on that?

In addition to being the first one I ever wrote start to finish, my niece has grand mal seizures. She is in high school and deals with this with so much strength and grace. I am often inspired by her.

The story between Layla and Landen in Keep Me Still is an emotional one.  How difficult and/or easy was it for you to write?

I sort of thrive on intense emotional writing. I love writing and reading it. But at times, it was extremely difficult to be in either character’s headspace for extended periods of time.

Do you use real life inspiration for your characters? Specifically for Layla and Landen?

Layla is very much inspired by the niece I mentioned before. Landen reminds me so much of a few different guys I’ve known/still know. His anger is so much a part of him it’s practically ingrained in his DNA. But he has a beautiful heart and when his intensity is channeled into loving instead of anger, it’s truly special.

I loved the supporting characters in Keep Me Still, Corin and Skylar.  Will they possibly get a story of their own?

*Cough* They might already have one. *End cough* Corin and Skylar kind of have a novella of their own. I just don’t know that I’ll ever publish it. But maybe one day!

Is there a specific message in Keep Me Still that you want readers to grasp?

I tend to shy away from this type of thing. The thing I like best about reading reviews is that everyone gets something different out of the same books depending on their own experiences. If there is any type of message in any of my books it would probably be that real love lasts even when you become the worst version of yourself(selves).

Some fun ones:

What projects/books are you working on right now?

Currently I’m finishing the third book in the Kylie Ryans series and a few compilation projects with other authors.

What are some books you have read lately?

I recently read Wish I May by Lexi Ryan and loved it. I also read a manuscript for Break It Up by my critique partner Emily Tippetts and enjoyed that very much as well!!

What are some songs on your ipod right now?

My three most recently played are: Everything Has Changed (Swift & Sheeran), Mine Would be You (Blake Shelton), We Were Us (Lambert & Urban)

What’s your favorite movie?

Oh gosh! Of all time? I wouldn’t even know where to begin! Right now I’m loving No Strings Attached and Life as We Know It. They’ve been on TV and I’ve watched them half a dozen times each.

What’s your favorite food?

Pasta. I can’t even turn it down. I’ve tried. Gave up trying. Unless we’re including dessert. My actual all time favorite food is anything on the dessert menu.

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

I have a hard time choosing between the beach and the mountains. I need to find a place that has both!

What’s one surprising thing that most people don’t know about you?

Hmm…I write my books out of order. They usually end up being two or three separate documents that get pieced together in a very complicated surgical procedure.

Thank you so much for having me!

Prizes include a $50 Gift Card, a KEEP ME STILL Kindle Case, and a swag pack. Plus signed copies of WISH I MAY by Lexi Ryan, BREAK IT UP by E.M. Tippetts, and a winner’s choice title from Elizabeth Lee. 5 winners get one or more of these prizes! US only.

Series: The VIP Room #1

Author: Jamie Begley

Release: Published October 4th, 2013  by Young Ink Press, LLC

“Here comes Trouble!”  Colton took one look at the stripper on stage and knew that was exactly what Vida was, trouble.  He had no desire to succumb to the young woman tantalizing men with her provocative movements and killer body with no intention of satisfying their fantasies.  Fresh out of prison, his tattoo shop and getting rid of an aggravating ex were his first priorities, not a woman who should know better than to become involved in a situation that could get her killed.

Vida will do anything to save her friend’s life, even if it includes stripping on stage and doing lap dances in the VIP room under her stage name Trouble.  All the sensuous moves were just an illusion to gain the information she needed, even if it meant the men who watched thought she would keep the promises her body was making.

Forced to sift through lies and betrayals, Colton discovers a woman who is as loving as she is loyal, but won’t give him a chance.  Vida, who tries to ignore the escalating passion between them, learns the hard way that some men shouldn’t be teased…

“I need to go to the bathroom,” Vida told him, trying to get off his lap.

Colton held her still with his hands on her hips. “In a minute.” His hands slipped to her ass, adjusting her until he notched her pussy against his cock where thankfully, Vida noticed, he had on a pair of sweat bottoms.

She had a terrible feeling she didn’t want to hear what he was about to say.

“Why are you still a virgin, Vida? No boyfriends in high school or college?” he questioned.

Vida was right; she didn’t want to hear his questions, much less answer them. Her lips tightened.

“It’s none of your business,” she finally answered.

“Yes, it is, since I’m the one going to take it,” he said casually.

“No, you’re not,” Vida snapped.

“Yes, baby, I am.” He lifted his pelvis until she could feel his hard cock against her folds. Desire threatened to rise again and Vida felt herself begin to want him.

Vida shook her head. He was everything she didn’t want in a man, everything she had sworn never to become attached to. Yet, he was sitting there, thinking he was going to take from her a gift that she had planned on keeping for someone special for years.

“No, you won’t. I have saved myself for the man I fall in love with, which is not you, nor will it ever be you. I won’t be like my mother, falling in love with one man after another, losing a piece of herself after each one. Do you know how many dads she brought home? Introduced me to? Each one she was sure was going to put that ring on her finger and make all her dreams come true. They never did, each one slept with her and used her until they were satisfied then they left her crying. She would cry for days, until she met the next one and fell just as hard.

“I am going to save myself for one man. A man who I know is going to love me as much as I love him, and won’t leave me for the next piece of pussy he sees. He will be as committed to me as I am to him. That will not be you, you’re a horn dog, and you’re married!” she yelled.

Colton rose up from his relaxed position, bringing his chest against hers.

“The only man that is going to be between your thighs is me. I am going to take that sweet little cherry of yours and make it mine. You made yourself so many promises when you were a little girl there’s no way you can keep them all. You’re not a little girl anymore, Vida. You’re a woman and you’re going to want my cock in you. You’re going to want it all the time.” Leaning back against the headboard again, he gave her a tender smile. “If you’re a good girl, I’ll give it to you any time you want. If you’re not, I’ll make you beg for it.” He gave her an arrogant smile that Vida had to restrain herself from knocking off him with the fist clenched at her side.

“You ass!” Vida moved to jump off him, and this time he let her go with a laugh.

“You better hurry up; we’re late.” Colton’s voice followed her into the bathroom. She made sure to slam the door loud enough for him to hear.

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.

Taking after my mother, I’ve always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family put up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent at work and I write during the nights and weekends. I have two children who both graduate next year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently I am writing three series of books- The Last Riders that is fairly popular, The Dark Souls series, which is not, and The VIP Room, which we will soon see. My favorite book I have written is Soul Of A Woman, which I am hoping to release during the summer of 2014. It took me two years to write, during which I lost my mother, and brother. It’s a book that I truly feel captures the true depths of love a woman can hold for a man. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am an emotional writer who wants the readers to feel the emotion of the characters they are reading. Because of this, Teased is probably the hardest thing I have written.

All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best. In the near future I hope to take a weekend break and visit Vegas that will hopefully be next summer. Right now I am typing away on Knox’s story and looking forward to the coming holidays. Did I mention I love the holidays?

Review – Rebel by Elle Casey

Teagan Cross, college senior, rebel, and wiseass extraordinaire, goes from princess to pauper in a single phone call. Overnight, her life of privilege becomes one of survival, and no matter where she turns, it seems like the world is out to get her. She’s not going to fall apart, though.  She’s a rebel and she’s strong … determined to live life on her own terms … and nothing’s going to stop her from getting things done and making things right. But when a twist of fate brings her to the doorstep of a different kind of Rebel, she’s forced to figure out when something’s worth fighting for and when something’s worth letting go.

My Review:

I was browsing through Amazon and found the book.  Sounded pretty good so I grabbed it.  You have Teagan, whose life sort of goes to complete crap in the blink of an eye.  I liked Teagan.  She was funny, had tendency to ramble a lot, would say funny things at inappropriate times and on occasion was a bit awkward.  But she owned it.   She definitely was entertaining.

In comes Rebel.  He was definitely the strong silent type.  Maybe a little too silent for my liking.  I was a little disappointed with his character.  I understand, he was a man of few words, but I mean, he really said, very few things and when he did, I didn’t feel any emotion behind them.  I guess I was just expecting a little more from him.  He’s described as this huge guy, intimidating, sexy, and I just didn’t feel that from him when he spoke.  Even in the sexy scenes, I wanted more from him.  More direction, more demanding, more emotion.

The supporting characters were intriguing.  Quin got on my nerves a bit, she talked too much for my liking, but the men (Rebel’s brothers) I liked a lot.  I will be looking forward to reading their stories.  I also like Julio.  He added to some funny scenes and provided some nice laughs as well.

The plot was good, very comical and entertaining, and there was a little mystery and suspense thrown in, but the ending felt like it was missing something for me.  I wanted to know more.  What happened to the bad guys, what was the outcome of everything that unfolded.  I’m guessing some of this will most likely be touched on in the other books in the series, but I would have liked to see an actual epilogue maybe.

Overall, I found that it was a pretty entertaining read.  I didn’t feel completely moved by the story or characters, but it held my attention and I laughed out loud at several parts.  I will definitely be reading the other books that come out in the series.

3.5 Stars

New Release – The Edge of Alway by JA Redmerski {Excerpt & Giveaway}

We have an excerpt and giveaway to celebrate the release of

The highly anticipated release by New York Times Bestselling Author

J.A. Redmerski!

Publisher: Forever Romance

Release: November 5, 2013

New Adult Contemporary Novel

Amazon | Barnes and Noble | Goodreads

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author J. A. Redmerski brings us the second book in her heart-renching series about two 20-somethings who find each other in their darkest moment.

Camryn Bennett has never been happier. Five months after meeting on a Greyhound bus, she and her soul mate Andrew Parrish are engaged-and a wedding isn’t the only special event in their future. Nervous but excited, Camryn can’t wait to begin the rest of her life with Andrew, a man she knows in her heart will love her always. They have so much to look forward to-until tragedy blindsides them.

Andrew doesn’t understand how this could happen to them. He’s trying to move on, and thought Camryn was doing the same. But when Andrew discovers Camryn is secretly harboring a mountain of pain and attempting to numb it in damaging ways, there is nothing he won’t do to bring her back to life. Determined to prove that their love can survive anything, Andrew decides to take Camryn on a new journey filled with hope and passion. If only he can convince her to come along for the ride…

I turn to Andrew again, waiting for him to spit it out. A cold breeze rushes through my knitted sweater, and I hide my hands inside the sleeves.

“You have five minutes to throw all of your stuff in your bag,” he says, and my heart is beating erratically before he finishes the sentence. He taps his wrist where there is no watch. “Not a second more.”

“This isn’t up for debate,” he says. “Go get your stuff.”

I just look at him, face blank.

My theory was right, but I didn’t want it to be. I don’t want to go on the road…I mean, I do…but it’s not right. It’s just not right.

“You have four minutes now.”

“But we can’t just leave like this,” I argue. “It would be rude.” I point at Asher. “And Asher just got here. Don’t you want to visit with—”

“I can visit my big brother anytime,” Asher counters. “Right now, I think you better do what he says or you might end up on the road wearing the same panties for a week.”

A few more seconds pass and I still haven’t moved. I’m in a state of mild shock, I guess.

“Three minutes, babe,” Andrew says and is looking at me with a serious face. “I’m not kidding. Get up there, throw our shit in our bags, and get in the damn car.”

Oh hell, he’s back to his old self again…

When I start to argue again, Andrew’s eyes get all feral-looking, and he says, “Hurry up. Time’s running out!” and he points to the house.

Finally, letting down my guard and going with the moment as much as I can allow myself, I glare at him and say, “Fine.” I’m only agreeing to it because I know he’s trying make things better. But I feel guilty as hell.

Disregarding his playful five-minute demand, I turn on my heels and walk very slowly back toward the house, purposely taking my time, partly my way of silently arguing the situation.

I push open the bedroom door, set my bag on the bed, and start stuffing everything inside of it. Then I go into the bathroom and grab our toothbrushes and various bathroom necessities. I yank our phone chargers from the wall and then my phone from the nightstand and chuck it all into my purse. I make my way around the room, hoping that I’m not missing anything.

Looks like Andrew already packed his stuff at some point and I never noticed.

Then I just stand here, scanning every inch of the place around me but not really seeing any of it. I don’t want to do this, but maybe it’s the right thing.

I hear the horn honk three times, and it snaps me out of my thoughts. Grabbing my bag, I swing it over my shoulder and grab my purse from the bed.

Review Tour – All the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton {Review & Giveaway}

ATPL Review Tour

Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life.  However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her.  She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over.  For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday.  So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them.  It’s never had to be.  He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember.  Right up until tragedy struck.  Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession.  But the one thing they can’t find is a future.  Neither one has been totally honest.  And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details.  In the details and in the lies.

How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

When I first started the book I was a little hesitant.  You have Sloane, a 21 year old virgin who decides to finally let herself live, steps into a tattoo parlor only to meet Hemi, the tattoo hottie.  I was really worried, afraid that it was going to be like so many others I’ve read, but I was definitely wrong.

I absolutely loved it!  I adored Sloane.  She was strong willed, trying to gain her independence from her overprotective cop brothers and cop father.  She wanted to live life to the fullest, knowing all to well that moments aren’t guaranteed.

She meets Hemi, as she goes in for her first tattoo, her first act of independence.  They have a connection, bonding over their love of art, and this intense chemistry.

“He smiles and, for a second, it’s like my soul connects with his in a way that transcends words.”

And Hemi.  I absolutely loved Hemi and all his sexiness.  He had a bit of that bad boy, take what he wants attitude.  He’s hot and mysterious.

As you read each alternating POV from Sloane and Hemi you can tell that both are hiding something.  They both have secrets that they can’t share, or aren’t willing to share with each other.

I loved the chemistry they both had.  Their scenes together were nothing but hot.  Hemi was so incredibly sexy.  Things he would say to Sloane had me melting.  He tried to stay away from her, tried to resist her, but the attraction was too much and he just couldn’t.

“I know I’ll hate myself for this tomorrow, but I have to have a taste of you, Sloane.  I can’t deny myself for one minute.  Let me show you what I was thinking when I saw you lying up there.  Let me show you what it feels like when a man stops fighting.”

There were some exteremely sexy scenes in this book.  Hemi is definitely a man who knows what he is doing and it was hot.  How he spoke, his actions.  And there is this sexy, steamy sauna scene that was insane.  Hot Hot Hot.

As Sloane and Hemi get closer and closer, the truth start to come out.  And it can tear any relationship that they had or hoped to have apart.  Hemi’s secret leaves Sloane feeling used while Sloane’s secret makes Hemi realize how much Sloane means to him and how much he can’t live without her.

The story is a really wonderful one.  I though it was well developed, touching and I won’t lie, I got a little emotional towards the end.  The secrets that they were both hiding had me in knots, so afraid of the aftermath once they were out.  M. Leighton took me through so many emotions in this book.  I loved Hemi, I hated him, I felt sorry for him and I even rooted for him at times.  I wanted them to have a happy ending so freaking bad.

I’ll go ahead and say you get an HEA.  You also get an epilogue that’s sweet and made me smile.  I would definitely recommend this book.  It was a touching, sexy, suspenseful yet an emotional read and I adored it.  It’s definitely going on my favorites list for this year.

Set of signed copies of M. Leighton’s The Bad Boy Series, The Wild Ones Series, The Madly Collection, The Blood Like Poison Collection, and Fragile for 1 winner. This is a US/Canada only giveaway.

Title – If Only (Captured, #1)

Author – Louise J

Genre – Adult Contemporary Romance

Release Date – December 16, 2012

What’s a girl to do when she meets a man who claims the heart that she’s already given to someone else? My boyfriend is everything I’ve ever wanted, he’s perfect, but when I met Joe … I can’t even describe the intensity of my attraction to him. I’d never experienced anything like it before. Since then, it’s become something so much deeper and I’m finding it impossible to ignore what I feel for him. I know I’m already with the man I should be with, yet I want Joe. I can’t seem to get my head and my heart to agree on this. I’m not about to cheat and I won’t just drop the man I love. But what do I do about Joe?

Tattoos, bikes and women – that’s been my life for the last two years and it suited me just fine. Until the day I swerved to avoid a raggedy old VW Bug heading my way, hit the sidewalk, and ended up sprawled on my back. I came around to a pounding headache and the most gorgeous girl I’ve ever seen. Don’t know if it was the effect she had on me, or the accident, but I somehow managed to let her go without exchanging information, more importantly numbers. Maybe it would’ve been better if things had stayed that way. Maybe then I wouldn’t be caught up in this dilemma. I should do what most guys would do and pursue her, regardless of her being in a relationship. Trust me, it’s tempting. The problem is, I’ve been on the receiving end of a situation similar to this, so I know the hurt I could cause and I don’t think I can do that. But I want Callie. I want her bad.

When Callie and Joe met, neither were prepared for the sequence of events that would follow, or the impact of the choices they would go on to make.

If only is book one in the Captured series. Adult Contemporary Romance. This series is not intended for those below 18 years old due to graphic sexual content and use of language.

I knew from the start that I should stay away from Dane, and I would have – if he’d stayed away from me. Astoundingly sexy with a consuming presence of unspoken command, he enthralls me to the point of almost being incapable of rational thoughts, almost being incapable of resisting him. My hands want to explore him. My tongue wants to taste him. My body begs to experience him. I crave him. Now he’s starting to intrude on a level that’s harder to fight. I know what he wants from me. I also know that Dane is not the type of man you expect to keep.

Things are never straightforward with women like Brooklyn. She’s not the kind whose bed you can slip out of and walk away from without ‘special connections’ or ‘emotions’ expected or offered. She’s the type of woman I prefer to keep my distance from, but like an undersexed, hormonal idiot, I still pursued her. I swear getting turned on by her is like getting turned on for the first time in my life. Now I have her in my grasp, but I know where this will lead. And I’m never the one that gets hurt in situations like this.

A woman who has barely put her broken-self back together and a man who turned his back on love a long time ago. When Dane and Brooklyn first met it appeared to be a simple case of lust between two opposites, but it was the beginning of an intense, emotional journey that would bring forth the pain they both attempted to leave in their pasts, and an encapsulation of feelings neither welcomed but were powerless to stop. Sometimes in life there is no choice but to take a risk.

*Release takes place in the months leading up to the end of If Only (book one in the Captured series), and includes major spoilers from Joe and Callie’s story.

*This book contains graphic sexual content.

About the Author:

Louise J has always been a daydreamer, but never considered writing a novel until days before typing the first words to If Only. Joe and Callie (and Gerard) appeared in a dream and her mind has never been her own since then, and she’s never alone. When she’s not writing she spends a lot of time missing out on huge chunks of conversation, movies, and TV shows thanks to many wonderful, but highly invasive characters bouncing around in her head, showing her their stories. Cover Reveal – Fighting Redemption by Kate McCarthy {Giveaway & Excerpt}

Check out this gorgeous cover!

Title – Fighting Redemption

Author – Kate McCarthy

Genre – Contemporary Romance

Expected Release Date – December 2, 2013

Ryan Kendall is broken. He understands pain. He knows the hand of violence and the ache of loss. He knows what it means to fail those who need you. Being broken doesn’t stop him wanting the one thing he can’t have; Finlay Tanner. Her smile is sweet and her future bright. She’s the girl he grew up with, the girl he loves, the girl he protects from the world, and from himself.

At nineteen, Ryan leaves to join the Australian Army. After years of training he becomes an elite SAS soldier and deploys to the Afghanistan war. His patrol undertakes the most dangerous missions a soldier can face. But no matter how far he runs, or how hard he fights, his need for Finlay won’t let go.

Returning home after six years, one look is all it takes to know he can’t live without her. But sometimes love isn’t enough to heal what hurts. Sometimes people like him can’t be fixed, and sometimes people like Finlay deserve more than what’s left.

This is a story about war and the cost of sacrifice. Where bonds are formed, and friendships found. Where those who are strong, fall hard. Where love is let go, heartache is born, and heroes are made. Where one man learns that the hardest fight of all, is the fight to save himself.

Later that morning after their workout and shower, Jake fell asleep on the couch. Feeling at a loss with nothing but time on his hands, Ryan wandered down the hall towards Fin’s room. She was sitting at a little study nook in the corner, laptop open with one foot resting on her chair. She was wearing a tank top and a little pair of shorts. Leaning up against the doorframe, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from those long, delectable legs.

As though sensing his presence, she turned in her chair. He forced his eyes upwards, catching a sexy flush fill her cheeks at his blatant perusal.

“Morning, Ryan.” She took off her black framed reading glasses and tossed them on the desk.

“Morning, Fin,” he replied.

Against his better judgement, Ryan pushed away from the door and walked farther into the room. Fin hadn’t changed at all and neither had his desire for her. His heart kicked over when she met his eyes. He knew everything he was feeling right now was written all over him, but he couldn’t seem to shut it off.

Her eyelids fluttered closed and she whispered, “Why now?”

Ryan took a deep breath. “I don’t know,” he replied honestly.

He shouldn’t still be feeling this way after so many years. Why was he doing this to her, and to himself? It was better for everyone if he stayed away like he was supposed to.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come. I’ll go stay at the barracks.” He turned to leave.

“Ryan!” she called out. Scrambling out of the chair, she grabbed his arm as he was halfway out the door.

“Fin,” he warned, looking down at her hand pointedly.

She took a step closer and he breathed her in, her scent like jasmine on a hot summer’s day. He was surprised when he looked into her eyes and saw anger burning hotly in their depths.

“Six years, Ryan. Do you know how hurt I was, each day passing by and getting nothing—not even a note or an email? I didn’t just lose you. I lost my brother too. Both of you left me, and I was okay with that. I understood that this was what you needed to do, so I moved on. I built a life that doesn’t include you. That was what I had to do.” She paused and raised a shaky hand to cup his cheek. “I’d have given you my entire heart if you’d only asked, but it’s not yours now. It’s not yours.”

Ryan closed his eyes, agony for losing what was never his rose in his chest until he felt strangled by it. He placed his hand over hers, holding it there until she tugged it away.

“You’re right,” Fin told him. “You should stay on the barracks … but I don’t want you to. Damn you, Ryan,” she whispered fiercely. “I don’t want you to.”

Ryan used his bulk to crowd her against the wall until there was no room for her to move. Leaning one hand against the wall, he grabbed her hip with the other. Her breathing rose rapidly and he leaned in, ducking his head until their mouths hovered a mere breath apart.

“Why can’t I force myself to leave?” He rested his forehead against hers and closed his eyes. “I hurt too. For six years I fought every day not to think of you, and I lost, because every day you were all I could see. You were the best thing in my life—so sweet and innocent, and so goddamn tempting.” His hand strayed from her hip and slid down to grip her ass. He swallowed the groan. “I stayed away so you could move on.”

The Edge of Always by JA Redmerski {Excerpt & Giveaway}

“Get up, birthday girl,” Andrew announces from somewhere near the foot of the bed. I hear him slap the tabletop by the window with the palm of his hand repeatedly.

I roll over onto my side, putting my back toward the bright sun and then burrow underneath the sheets. A gust of cold air hits me when Andrew snatches the sheets off me.

“Oh come on!” I moan, drawing my knees toward my chest and pulling the pillow over my head. “I should be able to sleep in on my birthday.”

Suddenly my body is being dragged off the bed and my arms come up wildly, trying to hold on to the edge of the mattress. Andrew’s hand is wrapped firmly around my ankle. I kick and flail, trying to get away, but he drags me across the bed so fast and without much effort that I just give up. My butt hits the floor and the sheets tumble down and around me.

“You are such an ass!” I laugh.

“But you love me. Now get up.”

With my hair all tangled around my head, I look up at him and pout. He smiles at me and reaches out his hand. I take it, and he pulls me into a stand.

“Happy birthday, babe,” he says and pecks me on the lips.

Review – Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover {Guest Review by Anjie}

FInding CinderellaSynopsis:

This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

Guest Review:

“Ignore it all.  I want to kiss you and I want you to want me to kiss you and I don’t really feel like waiting until I walk you to your porch tonight because I’ve never really wanted to kiss someone this much before.”

This was heart-strings pulling, laugh-out-loud funny, and the sweetest  darn thing I’ve read in I don’t know how long. All three in one. It was  freakin’ awesome!

Colleen Hoover creates characters that are  wonderful and come alive. The banter between Daniel and Six was sweet and hilarious, and I enjoyed Daniel and Holder as well.  And honestly, I  want to see more Breckin. That boy has to have a story of some sort.  He’s just fantastic. One of the things that makes Colleen Hoover such a  great character creator is that she gives them quirks. Six with her  nickname, Karen and her cooking, Daniel and his need to give everyone a  nickname. This makes them solid and believable, and that always makes  for a great read. I don’t always need descriptions of what people are  wearing or what color the curtains are. Give me a good character, and  I’ll create their surroundings in my head. I think Hoover could set her  characters in an empty room and I’d be fine with that because of their  personalities.

I think my favorite scene was Six’s welcome home  dinner. The scenes in the closet were good too, but the dinner was a  laugh out loud moment. But, how could I forget the break-up scene or  when Val offers to take him back?

The ride that Daniel takes to  finding his Cinderella is a bumpy one. He knows the dream girl he wants, and settles for Ms. RightNow, but quickly realizes that she isn’t Ms.  RightNow. More like Ms. NoWayInHell. Picturing the look on her face when he said he didn’t want her back made me giggle even harder than the  words they were saying. Daniel knew what he wanted, and went for it. I  like a take-charge kinda guy.

Their little bump wasn’t exactly  what I was expecting, but I loved the way it was dealt with. And the words that Daniel said. Six, he is definitely a keeper!

Samantha pulled up to the pump at the gas station and got out. As she watched the numbers on the pump, her mind started to wander. She sighed and crossed her arms as she thought about a few weeks ago when she’d broke up with Jeff, the guy she’d been seeing for about a year. What’s wrong with me? Jeff was a good guy. He was good looking and a successful lawyer. He treated her like a queen. Most girls would kill to date a guy like him. She didn’t feel anything with him – no passion or excitement.

The pump clicked as it stopped and Samantha put the gas cover back on. She’d forgotten her bottle of water for yoga class, so she ran inside the gas station to get one. She didn’t want to be late for class and not get a decent spot, so she trotted inside and grabbed the first bottle she saw from the cooler. She took it to the counter and paid. As she turned to leave, she ran right into someone else approaching the counter and dropped her water on the floor.

“I’m sorry!” She bent down to get her water as the person she ran into did too.

“Hello Samantha.” A deep voice filled her ears as the stranger handed her the water. Her heart started pounding. Could it be? She looked up quickly. It was Lance!

“Hey Lance. What’re you doing here?” She asked nervously. She was surprised to see her old boyfriend at this gas station, let alone in town. He was a successful rock star now and she knew he lived in LA. She tried to casually look him over. He’d filled out some since they’d been together. His shaggy blonde hair was cut shorter now and he looked older, more mature. She had to admit he looked good. Time had been very kind to him.

“I had some business to take care of here for Mom,” he replied.

She smiled. Always such a mama’s boy. “How is she?” Samantha had always liked his mom. She’d always told Lance to treat her better and that the two of them were going to get married some day. Boy did she get that wrong!

“She’s good. How are you?” He looked down at her with those piercing gray eyes. For a second she wanted to wrap her arms around him like old times. She’d never forgotten what his hugs had been like.

“I’m good. Busy writing. My first novel comes out in about a month.” She looked down at her shoes nervously, shaking the thought of his arms around her from her mind.

“That’s great, Sam,” he said with a smile. “I know how much you always loved to write. Congrats.”

She wasn’t sure why his words of approval made her feel so good. She glanced at her phone. She was going to be late for class if she didn’t leave soon. “I actually was headed to yoga class so I should probably get going.” She looked back up at him. “It was good seeing you,” she said softly.

He smiled at her, the corners of his eyes crinkling in the way she’d always loved. “It was really good seeing you too. Take care.”

She clutched her phone and water and headed out of the gas station, her heart pounding hard in her ears. Samantha took a shaky breath as she got into her car. Trying to get her bearings, she sat for a minute before starting it. She couldn’t believe she saw Lance after all of these years. She didn’t think she’d ever see him again here in town.

Samantha started her car and headed off to class. She was looking forward to yoga. Maybe it would clear the mess in her brain that seeing Lance had created.

Later that night, Samantha was in the bathroom getting ready for bed while Lance was performing his nightly ritual of checking on Emma before coming to bed. She was going to miss these little routines their family had.

She glanced at herself in the mirror. She’d managed to slip on the sheer, lacy black teddy Lance had bought her in Vegas when they got married. He had a thing for lingerie despite the fact he couldn’t keep it on her for longer than a few minutes. Tonight would probably be no exception.

She turned off the bathroom light and climbed onto their king size bed to wait for him. They had designed their bedroom to be a sanctuary, a place to relax after long months on the road or in LA while he was recording. There was a fireplace and a small sitting area and Lance had to have a big screen TV. There were times when they would get home from LA and they’d spend days in this room. She loved it, but it would be empty without Lance.

“Must’ve worn her out at the park today; she’s out cold,” Lance said as he walked into the room. He shut the door behind him and his eyes widened when he saw her. “Holy shit, Sam. What are you trying to do to me?”

A shiver went down her spine; the teddy had its desired effect. Lust and desire were written all over Lance’s face. “Oh nothing, just getting ready for bed,” she stated nonchalantly.

“What-the-fuck-ever, woman,” he mumbled, pulling his t-shirt over his head and tossing it across the room. He undid his belt and had his jeans and boxers off in record time. He hopped onto the bed by her and pulled her under him. His erection was hard against her thigh. That didn’t take long.

“You know I love that thing on you,” he growled into her ear. “And I’ve been semi-hard since earlier this afternoon. I’m not going to play around right now, Sam. I need to be inside you.”

His words sent a spark of desire straight to her womb. She reached up and cupped his face in her hands, looking deep into his blue eyes. “Then take me, Lance. Make love to me,” she whispered. She didn’t need foreplay tonight either; she needed to feel him inside her. She needed to be close to him tonight.

He made a sound deep in his throat and kept his eyes on hers as he thrust inside her. She moaned softly and arched beneath him, savoring the feel of him filling her. She wrapped her legs around him and ran her nails down his back.

They made love the rest of the night, dozing on and off in between sessions. They touched and kissed each other all over, sometimes taking their time, sometimes with a sense of urgency.

When it comes to tattooed bad boys, Chase Gartner is the real deal. My Review:

This book grabbed my attention from the start.  Specifically Chase Gartner.

Chase it a  troubled bad boy whose been heading down the wrong path in a downward spiral for a while.  And all of that comes to head one night and he finds himself locked up.

Four years later,  he’s finally a free man, trying to find himself, avoid temptation and prove to everyone he’s a changed man.  Working for the local church, he meets the sweet Kay Stanton.  Kay, has a past of her own, one that she deals with everyday.  The guilt, the sadness and loss.

One day outside the church she stumbles into Chase and their connection is immediate.  They form a friendship first, learning almost everything there is about each other.  And their friendship quickly grows to more.

I have to say, I absolutely loved Chase. I loved his bad ass side, the cursing, the tattoos, the troubled past, but most of all I love that he was trying to be better.  Better for his family, better for Kay.  His love for her was so sweet and protective.  He definitely made me swoon.

And Kay, I really enjoyed her character.  She had such a horrific thing happen, but she was trying to put one foot in front of the other.  She loved Chase with all his flaws and was there for him through the good and bad.

The only thing that somewhat bothered me about the book was that it seemed a little wordy in some parts.  Some of the remembering scenes I felt were repetitive a little bit and I did find myself skimming over them just a couple times.  However, I do understand the need to understand Chases past as well as Kays.

The book was a wonderful story about two lost and broken souls finding each other, loving each other, and making each other whole.  No judgement, just accepting each other as they are.  Beautiful. Loved it.

Review – Edible (The Exquisite Series) by Ella Frank

Edible, delicious, delectable.

Rachel Langley is more than familiar with those three words in her line of work. After all, she spends her afternoons and evenings creating desserts so divine that your mouth will water and your taste buds will tingle.

They aren’t, however, the words she would have ever expected to think of when she locks eyes with a certain lawyer she knows only as Cole.

With each encounter, the infuriatingly persistent man becomes more impossible to resist, and edible is the exact word that comes to mind.

Crave, demand, covet.

Cole Madison knows exactly what he wants, and Rachel Langley is it. From the moment he spotted her at Whipped, he knew he wanted to grab hold and take a bite.

However, the woman has enigmatic moves, avoiding him at every turn.

But not for much longer.

Rachel’s time is up, and as far as Cole is concerned, he’s waited too long for a taste of what he desires. Nothing, including the woman herself, will stop him from consuming what he hungers for.

The only question left is: Who will take the first bite?

My Review:

I’m a fan of this series by Ella Frank, so when I saw this book on sale, I grabbed it right away.  I enjoyed Rachel and Cole’s story, however, there was just something missing for me in the book.

Rachel is sort of lost, having all those around her in relationships she feels as though she’s the third wheel constantly.   Throw in an old abusive relationship that still haunts her she’s not ready to give up any control to anyone.

In comes Cole.  I must say.  He was what made the book for me. I loved him.  He’s a lawyer, says it like it is, knows what he wants and knows how to get it.  And he wants Rachel.  He was bossy, a bit brooding and extremely hot in the bedroom.  Mmm and his body, tats and piercings.  Not what I expected, but loved.  The sex was hot and steamy and there is a scene with some caramel sauce.  YUMMY!  HOT!

Unfortunately, I found myself skimming several parts of the book.  Scenes really dragged on for me, felt repetitive when it went back and forth between Cole and Rachel.  I got kind of bored with everything that was going on.  The parts that kept me reading were really the sexy intimate moments and some scenes with the whole family.

Overall, it was a good read but I just wasn’t feeling it as much as I did the last two books in the series.  But that won’t stop me from reading more from the author.

Review – Deeper by Blue Ashcroft

Rain Wilson isn’t ever going to love again.

It’s a promise she made the day her boyfriend died in a water park accident, one she still blames herself for.  Now she’s a senior lifeguard in a new town with a new pool and she’s just going to keep her head down and everyone safe.

Until a mysterious guy follows her into the waves at the pre-season bonfire and kisses her senseless.  It’s just one mistake, and Rain is determined to put it behind her, until the dark haired, blue eyed hottie turns out to be her new co-supervisor Knight Mcallister.

Knight is hot, tatted, and carrying baggage of his own.  He’s not happy about having Rain for a co-supervisor, and he’s even less happy about his attraction to her.

But between lifeguard drama, hot underwater kisses, and a growing attraction between them that can’t be stopped, Knight and Rain are being pulled deeper into their pasts, and realizing that sometimes too much broken can make a relationship impossible.

Then again sometimes it’s the broken parts of us that fit together best.

My Review:

At the beginning of this book I was very intrigued.  The prologue had me already liking Knight with his take charge go after the girl persona.  I was a little iffy about Rain.  As the book went on I wasn’t really a big fan of either one, which really disappointed me.

The stuff that happened to Knight and his past girlfriend was horrible.  And I really felt bad for him and could see why he didn’t usually open up to girls. But at the same time, there were times when he seemed a little too sensitive for my taste.

As for Rain.  I just didn’t really get why she was so hard on herself, and then once you learn more about what happened in her past, I just didn’t understand how she was so caught up over one guy that was her boyfriend for like 2 minutes.  I mean, I do understand that what happened was tragic and horrible to see, but something about her just really bothered me and I was expecting it to be more, someone closer to her, etc.

There were a lot of other characters in the book and at one point when I was reading, the author called a character one name and then a page later he had a completely different name.  That threw me off.

Also, I didn’t really like how the subject of rape was thrown around.  It made it seem like a girl couldn’t go anywhere herself without boys trying to rape her, or even the issue with guys trying to hurt girls.  It just really put me off.  There’s a way to broach that subject in books and this wasn’t it in my opinion.

Overall, I just didn’t really move me, I didn’t connect with the characters, what they did, what they felt. I was a little disappointed about that.

Carter Reed by Tijan {Guest Review by Anjie}

Carter ReedSnyopsis:

Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

Anjie’s Review:

“I would start a war for you.”

What woman wouldn’t want to hear that? Starting a war is exactly what Carter Reed did for Emma Martins.

Tijan starts this book off with a bang. Emma decided not to go to the gym after all. And who hasn’t made that decision? It may have been a decision Emma regretted, because it set into motion extremely life altering choices and actions.

After killing a man, Emma is forced to turn to childhood friend, Carter Reed for assistance.

The story was good, and I enjoyed it, but I would have loved a bit more background on several of the characters. I wanted to know more about exactly what Emma’s brother, AJ, did that got the hit ordered on him. More about what exactly Carter did for the mob. I think I would have liked to see just a little more of relationship growth between Carter and Emma. At times, I felt like the story was a bit rushed. I’m not a huge fan of sentences that consist of “weeks later” or “after a few months.” Leaves me wondering what happened, especially in a story like this, where it seemed to have a lot of things going on any other time.

I enjoyed the fact that the characters were all older than Tijan’s normal books. It was growth as a writer I liked seeing. Emma was a strong character, Tijan has a very good grasp on strong females, and I like that. Carter was a nice mystery, as he should have been, but I still think the curtain could have been pulled back just a bit more. The supporting cast was good, and honestly, I’d like to see more from Noah and Theresa. I’d like to see more from Amanda as well.

About the Author:

I’ve always been an avid reader.  Majoring in English Literature was a no brainer.  Becoming a teacher and instilling my love for reading into my students was also a no brainer.  I’ve spent the last ten years teaching and I’ve loved (mostly) every minute of it.  When I was home on maternity leave for my third son, I discovered a new genre that sparked my creativity.  My passion for writing sprang from my love of reading and once I knew I had a story to tell, I couldn’t wait to get it out there.  I only hope that my readers enjoy reading my story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Review – Safe With My by Kristen Proby

Safe With MeSynopsis:

Keeping others safe is what Caleb Montgomery does. He’s never had a problem taking on an assignment, whether it was during his dangerous SEAL days or his most recent job of training war mercenaries. But being assigned to keep Brynna Vincent and her adorable daughters, Maddie and Josie, safe from an unknown threat has thrown Caleb off his axis. Hot for the tall brunette since she came back to town more than a year ago, being close to her day in and day out is cracking Caleb’s resolve to keep his hands off her gorgeous body and his head in the mission.

Brynna is sick and tired of being afraid. All she wants is a normal, quiet life for her and her precious girls. Just as she’s settling into her new home in Seattle and feeling safe again, Caleb shows up on her doorstep insisting the danger is as high as ever. But whether she needs to be sheltered from the threat in her past, or from the intense emotions she feels for the sexy, protective man sleeping in her home, remains to be seen. What will happen if Brynna and her girls fall in love with a man so broken he may not be able to protect them from the danger that threatens, much less himself?

SAFE WITH ME is the fifth book in the With Me In Seattle series, and continues to follow this tight-knit, loving family through life’s trials and tribulations with humor, passion and everlasting love.

My Review:

I’m a big fan of Kristen Proby’s With Me in Seattle series and I was really excited about getting to know more about Caleb, just based of previews and teasers.

I’ve read all the books and in the series and while this one was good, it definitely wasn’t my favorite.  I think I had such big anticipation for this book that I was a little let down.

I really loved Caleb in the book.  Hot sexy Navy Seal, troubled, protective, with a sensitive side for Brynna and her two girls.  And one of the things that I love about Proby’s female characters is that they are all strong, opinionated, smart women and Bryanna was no exception.

The chemistry between the two was hot, but I just felt there was something lacking in the story, that caused me to not connect with the characters as much as her other books.  The story felt a bit rushed to me.  And all this dramatic stuff happened at the end rather quickly.

It wasn’t a super long read.  It was entertaining, but I didn’t feel particularly moved by their story and I was a little bummed by that, because like I said.  I was really eager to read this book.  Even with Caleb’s personal demons, and Bryanna’s past, there was just something missing for me.

I do love scenes with the whole family, they are hilarious, and I’m glad that we get to see how the previous characters are doing, their families are growing and changing.  Those parts add a lot of comedy to the book.

Do I recommend it, sure, especially if you are a fan of the series.  And, you get your HEA.  So if you are looking for a cute, sexy, fun read, I’d say grab it.

Quickie Review – Play by Play (A Play Makers Novella 1) by Kate Donovan

Former college football star Jake Dublin’s wildly popular sports blog also details his personal life. And lately it’s all about Sophie, the pretty young woman who just moved into his apartment building. His readers know her only as “Elevator Girl,” and they’re all rooting for Jake to score.

The blog posts and banter with his followers are all in good fun, and he fully intends to come clean with the woman he’s wooing and wowing. That is, until she confides that she grew up in a house full of jocks and even dated a few. Her verdict? Never again!

Jake knows he needs to confess. But somewhere along the line he fell in love with Sophie and can’t stand the thought of losing her. So he procrastinates, and blogs, and digs himself deeper into a hole, until it all leads to a showdown that’s so nail-biting, not even the best play-by-play guy could ever have seen it coming.

My Quickie Review:

I’ve been on a hot athlete kick for a bit now, I think because football season has gone into effect, so when I found this book, I thought it would be perfect, quick, hot little read.

The story starts off following Jake’s sports blog, which I though was absolutely hilarious.  His posts were funny, and entertaining and the interaction with the commenters on his blog were fun to read.   He meets this hot chick in the elevator of his building and proceeds to update his readers on his efforts to date her, without her knowing about it.

Unfortunately, that’s really the only part of the book that I enjoyed.  The rest I found to be pretty cheesy and unrealistic.  There wasn’t really much depth I felt to Sophie, the female character, Jakes “elevator girl”.  And I also felt like the whole story was rushed, I mean I understand it was a novella, but like I said, a bit unrealistic.

If the book would have been just a bunch of blog posts from Jake, I think I would have enjoyed it better because that’s really where the author grabbed me and entertained.

I really, really wanted to like this book so much more, but in the end, it just wasn’t really for me.

Review – Unspoken by Jen Frederick

Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.

I’ve been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?

He’s everything I shouldn’t want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren’t the danger to me, though, it’s his charm. He’s sliding his way into my heart and I’m afraid that he’s going to be the one to break me.

Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.

I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I’ll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I’ve got fighting and I’ve got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.

She’s everything I didn’t realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she’s been hurt too much in the past and I don’t want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can’t.

My Review:

I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.  This was the first book I’ve read by the Author and I didn’t know it was part of series at the time.  You also, don’t need to read the first book in the series to read this one.

The book follows AnnMarie (AM) at college as she is faced with the aftermath of a drunken night and the gossip that follows.  It’s bad, so bad in fact that she hates to be seen anywhere on campus besides her classes.  She tends to only hang out with her close group of friends and when they do, it’s at off campus locations.

In comes her new lab partner Beauregard Randolph (Bo).  Ex marine, popular guy on campus, hot, sexy, likes to fight in his spare time.  And of course, has his troubled, promiscuous past.  But he has his moment’s and surprises AM.  He really could be quite charming…

“You show a woman you love her by what you do for her, from opening her door to making sure that bumps in the road of life are smoothed out.  That she wants and worries for nothing.  That when you think about sex, it’s her face in your fantasies, her body you’re touching, her lips you’re kissing.  That every day you remind her that she’s the first thought in your mind when you wake up and the last thought before you drop off to sleep.”

The chemistry between the two is hot.  Bo is pretty straight forward with what he feels and what he’s thinking.  AM is more reserved at first, afraid, not really ready to step into a relationship with him, especially because of how things have been for her previously on campus.

But the more time AM spends with BO she realizes there is so much more to him that just a brooding bad boy.  And they can’t fight the chemistry they have and eventually both give in.  They sex was pretty hot.  It goes into some good detail, I would have like to see, maybe even a bit more in some scenes.

Bo wants to protect AM and keep her safe but she is very independent and doesn’t want people fighting her battles for her.  At one point this forms a big wedge between the two, but they do manage to work it out.

This was the first book I read by the author.  The writing style was really good, she kept my interest throughout the book.  I did find that some parts were kind of cheesy for my taste.  And I felt a bit awkward reading them.

You do get your HEA, which I always love.

Overall, though, I really enjoyed it and I will definitely be reading more from the author.

My Review:

When I was gifted a copy of the book, I was quite excited about reading it.  I had heard great things and I was really hoping that the book would live up to my expectations.

I was definitely not disappointed.

The story follows Candace, a college dance major in her last year of school.  She’s still trying to find herself, surrounds herself by her close friends and keeps a pretty basic routine.  Unfortunately, after mixing up with the wrong guy she finds herself in an extremely horrible situation.

I know there’s several books out there that touch on the situation that happens to Candace, but I feel the author did such a wonderful job of making you understand just how gut-wrenching and horrific this was for her.  It was definitely not easy to read that part.

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that rocked me so emotionally.  It was definitely a welcome read.  I felt the book was beautifully written.  They story itself was, emotional, at times heartbreaking.  My heart went out to Candace.

The author makes you connect with her and how she felt.  How difficult it was for her, how traumatic.  My heart ached for her.

Ryan was incredible.  I absolutely loved him.  He was compassionate, considerate, sweet.  He knew that Candace was vulnerable, didn’t push her, didn’t rush her.  And his honesty about his past relationships was refreshing. I definitely fell in love with him.

I rooted for them through out the book.  As the reader you know there’s this big thing that stands in the way for both of them and I was so anxious to find out what would happen once everything was out int he open.   And, at one point, I thought things weren’t going to work out between them.  But I will say,  you get your HEA at the end.  No cliffhanger.

And you can’t forget about Jase, her best friend.  The connection they have and friendship they have is so sweet.  They really are family and care deeply for each other. (On a side note: I can’t wait to read his story!)  The way he was there for her, every step of the way really warmed my heart.

Watching Candace, grow and heal after what happened was the best part for me.  I didn’t understand some of her decisions along the way, but seeing her gather her strength day by day, even if there were some set backs, and heal with the help of her friends and Ryan was really great to see.

The book really is emotionally packed.  I recommend some tissues.  It took me just a bit to get invested in it, but after a chapter or two, I was completely wrapped up in it and the story.  I really couldn’t put it down.   I definitely recommend this book!

And, on a side note.  I absolutely love the cover.  Now that I’ve read the book, I think it’s absolutely perfect.

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: 23rd August 2013

Can she overcome her consuming desire for him? Can he make her comfortable with the other C-word…commitment?

Marley Mason is dreading the arrival of the new business consultant. After all, this man will most likely outsource her job to China. The last thing she would expect is a case of mistaken identity, leading to false accusations of kidnapping when she attempts to pick up the wrong man at the airport, or worse…that she would have such a visceral reaction to the right man.

Rick Randy is super sexy, scandalously flirty, and perfect masturbation material, but a relationship is out of the question. Rick is contracted on a temporary basis to fix Marley’s ailing company, and then pull out, although as he expresses to Marley, pulling out is difficult for him, in more ways than one! Author Bio – MK Schiller

ResizedImage_1375327386709This is my debut novel, and I’m thrilled to share it with you. I describe myself as a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. By day, I don a magic cape, calculator (sometimes an abacus), and an assortment of gel pens for my work in the world of finance. But by night, I sit by the warm glow of my computer monitor, and think of stories that will warm the heart, and cheer the soul.
There is nothing better than the intimate journey and ultimate satisfaction that only a swoon-worthy romance can provide, especially if there are a few laughs along the way. Although writing is my passion, I am a reader first and enjoy nothing more than curling up with a good book and some tasty Italian (the food, of course!). I hope you will enjoy my work and please drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.

“I want to kiss you again. I don’t want to wait on that.” He barely had the car in park before he placed his hands on either side of my face and drew me close to him. His lips felt like velvety pillows. The kiss was softer, slower, but no less passionate than our first kiss. He coaxed his way into my mouth. He explored with a profound depth while he caressed my face and neck with his fingertips. He worked his way down my jawline to my neck, punctuating each progression with soft, wet kisses. He pulled away, but continued stroking my hair with his fingers, staring at me intently. The sounds of our rapid breathing permeated the air. “Don’t masturbate.” The words were the most shocking I’d ever heard.

My hand shot up and struck his face in a hasty reaction to the command. I slapped Rick. I didn’t slap him for the kiss. I loved the kiss. I smacked him for telling me not to masturbate. Surely, he wasn’t taking away my only form of relief.

He rubbed his check and I immediately felt guilty. “I can’t believe you slapped me. Are you into some S&M shit I need to know about?”

“No…sorry, but are you fucking crazy? First you tell me we have to wait until the results, then you kiss me like that and now you’re saying don’t masturbate?”

He grinned impishly and pulled me towards him again. “I won’t either. When I finally fuck you, it’ll be worth it. It will make everything so much more…epic. Do you know what I mean?”

“No,” I replied, pouting.

My Review!

Marley has a Crazy first encounter with who she presumes is the Cheapskate business consultant who will probably be firing her very soon.  What she didn’t expect was that there would be an insane Connection between the two of them.  The Chemistry between Marley and Rick in this book is insane.  They try to fight their feelings for each other, whatever they may be.

Marley is tomboyish, quirky, smart and pretty strong.  She has had some things happen in her past that mold who she is now.  Her lifestyle choices and why she does some of the things she does.  I really loved her in this book.  She had a great sense of humor and didn’t play the victim.  She lived life by her own set of rules.

Rick has been pretty much on his own from a younger age, he is a tough, intelligent business man who despite what life has handed him, made something of himself.  He immediately has this need to protect Marley.  He wants her to be his, and only his.  Although he wants more than Marley may be willing to give.

Rick was definitely swoon worthy.  You could tell he fell for Marley hard and some of the things he would say to her were just so sweet.  I loved his Compassion and his want to help her, keep her safe.

Two things I really, really enjoyed about the book were the family dynamic.  Marley’s family was so close and I loved the scenes when they were all together.  Her interaction with her sisters was so realistic, I could picture them all sitting around together.  The other thing was how the author incorporated music into the book.  It was great.  She had me looking up lyrics to songs, downloading them, just to see how they connected with what was described and the characters.

I loved the author’s writing, she held my attention the whole time.  I felt connected with the characters, there were some funny parts, some sad parts, I may have shed a tear towards the end.  We get an Epilogue which I always love and there is a HEA.

I would definitely recommend this book.

My Review:

This book was a great mix of steamy, sexy and sweet.  Leah is attending therapy for sex addicts where she meets the incredibly charming and sexy Irishman Will.  Their connection and chemistry is instant.

They keep finding themselves running into one another.  Will is dead set on getting to know more and more about Leah.  While Leah is sure that Will is only good for one thing.  She needs to get it over with, and get him out of her system. But once she learns the truth that Will is hiding, it hurts her, and she realizes that her feelings for him go beyond the physical.

I thought this book was very well written and I loved the interaction between Will and Leah.  Between them, the supporting characters and even little Elijah, the author did a great job of adding some humor to the entire book.

There were some scenes also that were pretty hot.  And the anticipation, made them more so.  Which brings me to how the book ends.  I thought it was perfect.  You get your HEA, with a little extra side of sexy.

The book itself wasn’t too long.  I thought really the perfect length to keep in interested without it dragging.  And actually thought that may the book would be a little more serious and touch on the sex addict issue a bit more than it did.  So I was surprised when reading the session scenes and discussions, they were all quite funny.

Overall, definitely recommend the book.  And I’m not ashamed to say, I am addicted to Will.  Loved him!

Will definitely be reading more from this author!

After a bad break-up from her abusive ex-boyfriend Tony, Charlotte McElroy and her best friend Riley Tate decide to let loose in Las Vegas. Even though she has sworn off men, Charlotte finds herself powerless against her attraction to a gorgeous dark-haired movie star. His charming sense of humor and good looks are a lethal combination against her resolve to not get involved with a man like him.

Wyatt Grayson and Miles Porter embark on a weekend of drinking and partying with their good friend and fellow actor Jesse. On a short break from filming the second installment of the Forced Romance trilogy, the trio find themselves at the mercy of the two beautiful women. Wyatt and Charlotte never intended to fall in love but when she’s attacked by her former boyfriend, Wyatt quickly learns that he can’t live without her. Charlotte finds herself clinging to Wyatt for her own salvation from her nightmare. But can their love withstand the broken road they find themselves on? Can it prevail despite Wyatt’s promiscuous history, the temptation posed by ever-present and ever-willing bimbos, the geographic distance between them, and his demanding film schedule? Or will the turmoil of Charlotte’s past, Wyatt’s troubled childhood, and the threat posed by Tony keep them forever apart?

My Review:

I really enjoyed Wyatt and Charlie’s story.  It has lots of love, some action, suspense and doesn’t leaving you hanging on the cliff for dear life at the end.  I was really afraid that it would as I got closer and closer to the ending.  Thank God it didn’t.  Although, you can tell there is definitely going to be more to their story.

Charlie is struggling to get over a bad relationship where she was emotionally and physically abused.  She’s had some tough bumps in her road of life.  I found that these made her character a bit weak at times.  She struggled with some low-self esteem which is understandable.  But I just really wanted to see her be so strong.  You do catch glimpses of that towards the end, when some really horrible stuff happens to her.

And Mr. Wyatt, ladies man obviously.  I was pretty ticked at him in the beginning of the book.  His actions really made me mad and Charlie was pretty quick to get over it in my eyes.  However, he completely wins me over.  Just you wait and see.

I enjoyed the supporting characters.  Riley and Miles were adorable and I definitely would like to see more of them.  (I hear that may be happening).

The only thing that really bothered me about the book, was I felt like the dialogue was rushed some.  Things happened so fast and I felt like it jumped from one scene to the next so quickly.

I really did like the dual POV from Charlie and Wyatt though.  I always love getting both sides of the story, seeing what’s going on with both characters.

I will definitely be reading book two in the series.  If you are looking for something that is hot and steamy mixed with a little nail biting suspense, this is definitely a book worth reading.

Prologue Sneak Peek!

Damian was going over the alcohol shipment that had arrived this morning. One of the reasons his sex clubs were so popular was because of the liquor he had shipped in from the mainland. It was expensive, but the quality was much greater than anything produced on Colania. Currently though, it was giving him a headache.  He was missing a case of the high-end scotch he kept on hand.
Prince Anton strutted into his office without warning.
“Don’t you knock?” Damian said scathingly.
“Didn’t know I needed to,” Prince Anton replied.
“With all due respect, sire,” Damian said sarcastically, “this is my office in my club. Next time, knock.” Damian rose to his feet, his body fluid like a great jungle cat, before he went to embrace his prince. “Now, what the hell is so important you had to schedule an appointment?”
“I have a job for you,” Prince Anton told him. He returned the one-arm embrace stiffly and then moved away with haste. He was uncomfortable with physical contact that he didn’t initiate or control. When the two men sat, he elaborated. “My thirtieth birthday is approaching.”
“In a year and a half.” Damian snorted. “Do you think it wise to skip twenty-nine?”
“As the last of the monarchy, it is my job to reproduce,” Prince Anton continued. “As much as I would like to see the genes that have shaped me die out, the country would fall into a tailspin. Although we are remote and somewhat undeveloped, we are a rich nation. The power I hold is all that keeps us out of the eye of the world and off the radar for those who would oppress us.”
“What does this have to do with me?” Damian asked warily.
“I have no desire to repeat history,” Prince Anton said. “We both know that my sexual nature is more like that of the queen than my father.”
“Do you want me to train you?” Damian asked, confused. “To help you learn to control your appetite?”
“No,” Prince Anton said firmly. “I don’t think either of us could handle taking our relationship to that level.”
The two men had grown up together, which accounted for Damian’s lack of respect and boundaries, but Prince Anton wanted to maintain formality between them.
“You could be right,” Damian said with a light chuckle. “So, what do you want from me?”
“I want you to find her, the woman who will bear the future of the country,” Prince Anton said. “Find her and train her to be what I need.”
“You can’t just order up a woman on demand,” Damian told him with a raised eyebrow.
“You must find a woman with good genetics although Gilly can look into that after the candidate meets the other criteria,” the prince said, ignoring Damian. “Beautiful, obviously. I’m not particular with features, but it stands to reason if my life mate is attractive, then I will have a better chance with reproduction. I’d also prefer that she not have a single drop of royal blood regardless of past royal practices. I do not wish to produce monsters or further any imperfections through inbreeding, however distant the connection might be. She needs to be completely submissive. I will be in control of any encounters at all times. Whoever she is, she must be willing to leave her past life behind. I refuse to be burdened with in-laws who might not agree with my domination of their daughter.”
“That’s quite a shopping list,” Damian said, eyeing the prince harshly. “Anything else you’d like to add before I order a woman for you?”
“There is one more requirement,” Prince Anton said seriously. “And this is perhaps the most important of all. She must be a virgin.”
“You do realize when I train a woman to cede her control to her master that I have sex with her?” Damian asked incredulously. “Submissives have to learn to respond on command; an untried woman will not have that opportunity.”
“I will not have a woman who has felt a man between her thighs before me. I will not have my children born to a woman who will behave as my mother did. She must be pure!” Prince Anton roared.
“If I refuse to do this…” Damian didn’t finish the question.
“You will not refuse,” Prince Anton said, rising to his feet. “I expect you at the castle within the week. The search begins immediately.”
